Mercenaries 2: World in Flames a shitty game? Yet you like Just cause 2? Both are fantastic but I prefer Merc2. I bought it full price on release day for 360 with an additional 2 for pc for co-op, then another for 360 when it got cheaper for more co-op.
Poor Viva Pinata. :(

No hesitation, without question. I'm certain the meta scores and pro reviews would back me up too! Mercs had a terrible control scheme. That's what really made me dislike it.

I big to differ! The control scheme and lack of variation of arms/ammo in JC2 is what makes it inferior to mercs2. I've played through mercs2 from start to finish several times and have spent hours and hours just messing around, but as much as I love JC2 I have yet to get close to finishing it.

Fairweather, considering how many garbage games you play (garbage is garbage, no matter the cost), I'm pretty surprised to see a handful of quality games on the list of games you wouldn't pay full price for. Either your taste in games is questionable at best, or your taste in games is questionable at best.

I have only finished 2 shitty games this gen (Too Human and Dark Void). The rest range from excellent to decent at worst. You can look at my list of beaten games through the last 2.5 years and see that my finished list of great vs crappy games is pretty excellent. I have enjoyed every game on this list to one extent or another.

1/4/10- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- PS3
1/11/10- Dawn of War 2- PC
1/16/10- Assassin's Creed 2- 360
1/24/10- Uncharted 2 - PS3
2/8/10 - Darksiders - 360
2/20/10 - Dante's Inferno - 360
2/23/10 - Flow - PS3
2/27/10 - Rockband 2 - 360
2/27/10 - Guitar Hero World Tour - 360
2/28/10 - Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - 360
3/21/09 - Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - 360
3/30/10 - God of War 1 - PS3
4/12/10 - Raiden IV - 360
5/29/10 - GTA4 - 360
6/3/10 - Alan Wake - 360
9/13/10 - Borderlands Island of Dr. Zed expansion - 360
9/21/10 - Halo: Reach - 360
9/28/10 - Peggle - Iphone
10/1/10 - Peggle - 360
10/25/10 - L4D 2
11/11/10 - CoD: Black Ops - 360
1/9/11 - Singularity - 360
1/26/11 - Vanquish - 360
4/18/11 - Torchlight - 360
5/7/11 - Risk Factions - 360
6/20/11 - Medal of Honor - 360
7/20/11 - Kill Team - 360
8/3/11 - Katamari Forever - PS3
8/17/11 - Toy Soldiers - 360
8/17/11 - Toy Soldiers: Cold War - 360
9/12/11 - Warhammer 40k: Space Marine - 360
9/17/11 - Metal Slug 1 - Wii
11/12/11 - Battlefield 3 - 360
11/19/11 - CoD: Modern Warfare 3 - 360
11/24/11 - Dead Nation - PS3
12/2/11 - StarCraft 2 - PC
12/11/11 - Gears of War 3 - 360
12/12/11 - Metal Slug 2 - Wii
12/12/11 - Metal Slug 3 - Wii
1/8/12 - Dark Void - 360
2/6/12 - Lego Star Wars Complete Edition - 360
6/1/12 - WoW Shaman hit lvl 85 - PC
6/14/12 - Homefront - 360
7/10/12 - Diablo 3 (WD on Normal) - PC
8/12/12 - Lego PotC - 360

Also my "wouldn't pay full price for" is only half of a complete thought that I didn't type out in detail. There are a wide range of reasons why I wouldn't pay full price for them that could be anything from "I have too many goddamn games to play already so I'm not spending another 60$" to "There is another game coming out that same week, I'm choosing the other game instead". Some people rent games to try them, I just wait and buy them when they are deeply discounted.

I can easily play 2-3 games in one sitting that range from AAA games to a C grade game and spend the same amount of time on both with a smile on my face. While my finished games list has taken a nose dive, I have actually been playing more games than ever. I counted 23 games played in the last 2 weeks between PC, Wii, PS3, and Xbox. I can play the newest release for an hour or two, then switch to a game that came out 6 years ago and not even care. I haven't bought and played a truly crappy game in ages. What garbage games are you referring to?

Btw, the "Finished Games List" is pretty amazing to look through. What a cool little tradition. I wish we would've started that years ago.

Ratchet & Clank Collection came out yesterday. Only $30 for 3 games so don't be cheap! Although I'm sure by the end of the year will probably be able to find it for $15-20. I haven't played them for a few years and forgot how clunky the controls and camera were in the first game. Not terrible but noticeable after playing a lot of current gen games.

The actual ending to the game is 7$ in DLC, just an FYI. It's not a traditional game by any means. It's more like a QTE filled anime? I know that makes it sound awful but it's really not. It's so intense and weird. I have never played anything like it before and I honestly don't think anything like this will ever be made again.

Kingdoms of Amalur $20 at NewEgg. Unfortunately it's just the 360 version for some reason. Oh well I don't have time for another new game anyway. Especially an RPG.

Some decent deals at Best Buy online (and maybe in store)
Dead Island GOTY (360 or PS3) $7.99 + FS!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (360/PS3) $25, Dishonored (360/PS3) $25, Sleeping Dogs (360/PS3) $25, & More with free shipping

Assassin's Creed III (PS3 + Xbox 360) $34.99 at Best Buy + FS!

Killzone Trilogy + Dualshock 3 controller $39.99
I picked up DI, Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs. Almost got AC3 but it will be $20 in a few more months so I can wait.

They have a few others also so go to their site. Borderlands 2 $35, Need for Speed Most Wanted $30, Saints Row 3 - Complete Package $25, etc..

I grabbed:

Forza Horizon
NFS Most Wanted
Borderlands 2
Dishonored

I almost got RE6 but figured I can wait for a sale below 10$ on that one.

AC3 was sold out as of 7am EST this morning or else I would've gotten that too.

Not bad. I have only spend 89$ of my self imposed 250$ Black Friday gaming budget and I have saved 150$ according to MS on the games I just bought. I'm saving a lot by passing on Day 1 purchases this year!

Now I just want from Amazon's deals:

22nd
GT5 XL Edition - 10$
Ratchet and Clank Collection - 15$

23rd
Max Payne 3 - 15$

I'll also browse lightening deals all day hoping to get the latest Transformers game, AC3, and Halo Ann. all on the cheap.

Edit: Oh, and Sleeping Dogs, LBP Karting, and Playstation Allstars. I have a pretty large checklist!

Yeah I don't know why anyone buys games on release day anymore! Other than having too much money.

I was thinking of getting Forza Horizon but that would mean I'd have to turn on my 360 and being subjected to its crappy UI. $15 is a good price though for a game that just recently came out.

It looks like it will be an Amazon lightning deal in 4 hours if anyone missed it on the MS page. I'm going to go for Lego Batman 2 and that should do it for the day. Not even sure how many games I've gotten in the past 24 hours. Like 10 or something! I have been able to get all the ones I've wanted though so no disappointment there.

WalMart (evil!) has Lego Lord of the Rings for $25 (PS3/360/Wii) and includes Fellowship of the Ring Blu-Ray disc as a bonus. $5 cheaper than Amazon and a free movie. It's probably just the standard version but whatever!

(Edit.. If you look at the box art it seems that the 360 and Wii versions only have the DVD despite what the product description says. Sorry non-PS3 people!)

Gold Box Deal of the Day on PS Vita Assassin's Creed III Liberation Bundle

For today only, November 23, 2012, and while supplies last, get $70 off the PlayStation Vita Assassin's Creed III Liberation Bundle. The bundle comes with over $65 in additional value exclusive to Amazon.com customers, including a DLC code for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for PS Vita, a $10 credit to use toward "Assassin's Creed III" for Xbox 360 or PS3, and a 3 month trial to PS +.
Seems a decent deal at $180.

Best Buy has a bunch of good deals, including a few games on my to buy list. Unfortunately I'm broke as shit and can only pick up one, since I have 30 dollars worth of reward zone points. I'm gonna grab Assassin's Creed 3, they have it for $34.99 and it's still available as of right now (it actually showed sold out earlier and now it's available again). It was a toss up between that, Dishonored and Darksiders 2, which are both $29.99.

Not really for the past year or two. At least from what I've seen. I was pretty disappointed with CM deals last year but had gotten a bunch of things from Amazon and NewEgg during BF deals. Still a few games I haven't even played yet from that so not sure why I bought so many this year. Stimulating the economy!

Total haul:

Sleeping Dogs
Ace Combat Assault Horizon
PGA Tour 2012 CE
Forza Horizon
NFS Most Wanted
Borderlands 2
Dishonored
Ratchet and Clank Collection
Max Payne 3
GT5 XL

I spent about 135$, so about 15$ per game. I passed on several games that are on my "list", mostly collections like Silent Hill, DMC, Splinter Cell, ect. I passed on LBP Karting for 25$ because I already have several karting games that collect dust. I'll wait until it's even less. I missed Lollipop Chainsaw for 10$ on the MS site, but other than that I got every game I was after at the price I wanted (or less!). I never saw a good sale on Xcom. In the land of 5-25$ games, 35 is way too much IMO.

Now if I can just keep myself from impulse buying Far Cry 3 on the 4th, I think there will be a good Xmas deal to find on that as well as the few games that I didn't pick up this round. (ie: AC3, Xcom)

Sleeping Dogs is a solid GTA type game.

Farcry 3 looks good and is reviewing well:

The ones I can remember getting:

Lumines: Electronic Symphony (I forsee the d-pad cursing already)
Little Deviants (not the greatest reviews.. But was $10)
Lego Batman 2 (who doesn't love Lego for $15!)
Lego Lord of the Rings (I usually wait for Legos to hit $20 or less but this was $25. With a free FotR BR so figured that and getting it 'early' was worth $5 more)
Amazing Spider-Man (not sure why!)
Gran Turismo 5 XL (Not sure I'll really play it much but hopefully get $10 entertainment out of it)
Need for Speed Most Wanted (Since we're not getting a new Burnout anytime soon this will have to do)
Sleeping Dogs (Decent reviews.. decent price.. why not!)
Dead Island GOTY (Wasn't on my list but.. $10!)
Dishonored (wasn't sure on this one but figured what the heck)
Saints Row 3 Complete (supposed to be fun)
Darksiders 2 (I really should have waited for that to hit $20 or under. Don't think it will be long for that to happen)

So yeah... I think I'm set for the next year on games. The only ones I see myself picking up down the line are AC3 and maybe FarCry 3 and Borderlands 2 when it hits Game of the Year edition for $20. I was surprised not to see Kingdoms of Amalur anywhere for the PS3. I saw it for PC and 360.

You got a good haul too. I own Saints Row 3, Darksiders 2, and Lego Batman 2. There's a large time investment in those 3 games alone!

I passed on Lego LotR because I'm going to see if there is a better deal closer to Xmas. That will be one of the gifts for my girls. They love Lego games. Let me know how it is. It's hard for me to imagine a Lego game passing Batman 2 on the fun scale. That game is great mainly because it's open world so it will be weird going back to a story based Lego game after that.

The first few months of 2013 is loaded with new games. The slew of deals this time of year pretty much guarantees that I can skip them at release and grab them on sale later in the year. Once my media room is complete, I foresee myself spending a lot more time on consoles in 2013. I do still have a mini goal to get through as many of my games as I can prior to next gen's launch.

Darksiders 2 and NFS: Most Wanted are both fantastic.

I played a fair bit of Most Wanted on the tablet(Nexus 7) prior to the PC version and as it turns out, the progression is the shared if both are connected to the same origin account. Any speedpoints (or whatever they're called, they're your progression meter in the game) that you earn on either platform are automatically added to your total. This put me in the odd situation of being able to race # 10 through 6 of the most wanted on the full game right off the top and with very little discovered and all the cars I could ride being stock configuration and not very good.

The game itself, while not as tight of an experience as Burnout Paradise was, is a very fun package.

Not exactly a game deal but sort of. Sony has a promotion where if you get their PlayStation Card (credit card) you get 12 months of PS+ in addition to a $50 PSN code which you can basically use for a second year of PS+ more than likely. All it takes is making one purchase then you don't have to bother with the card again and there's no annual fee. My PS+ expires in July so I'll probably do this.

This is for new PlayStation Card accounts only but since I don't have one that works for me.
Animalor wrote:The game itself, while not as tight of an experience as Burnout Paradise was, is a very fun package.
Yeah I played it for a bit. The drifting doesn't seem as good as it was in BP but maybe I just need more practice. The cops are fairly annoying as well. Sometimes I just want to drive around exploring and not be hassled by the Man!

I had a code for $10 off AC3 that I forgot about so that dropped it to $23. Close enough to my target price.
Yeah, that's a great deal. I'm still waiting to beat Brotherhood and Revelations though. AC3 will be 5$ by then, lol.

Farcry 3 is awesome btw. I'm about 10-12 hrs into it right now. It's a cross between Skyrim and Batman, with guns. Big world with lots to do too.

Thanks! I'd get it if I had more time but by the time I can actually get to playing it I'm sure it will be $20 or something.

PSN stuff on sale this week:

Game Normal Price PSN Sale Price Plus Sale Price
LittleBigPlanet Karting $39.99 $19.99 $10.00
The Unfinished Swan $14.99 $7.49 $3.75
Ratchet & Clank $14.99 $7.49 $3.75
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy $7.99 $3.99 $2.00
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Complete Collection $24.99 $12.49 $6.25
Warp $9.99 $4.99 $2.50
Shank 2 $9.99 $4.99 $2.50
NiGHTS into dreams… $9.99 $4.99 $2.50
Jet Set Radio $9.99 $4.99 $2.50
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Extended Cut $19.99 $9.99 $5.00
Psychonauts $9.99 $4.99 $2.50
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13 $39.99 $19.99 $10.00
Machinarium $9.99 $4.99 $2.50

Sorry format! Not the greatest selection but I'll probably pick up a couple of those at the + price. Unfinished Swan is a definite. Undecided on Warp and Machinarium. Maybe even Psychonauts as I've never played it.

I bought Machinarium as part of a humble bundle. It was a pretty cool game but I got sidetracked and never finished it.
