Man, it's been so long that I've actually paid attention to bleeding edge video card hardware that I couldn't even tell you what the fastest card on the market is anymore.

and ATI's is out now. the 5800's. they came out in november/december 09. dx11.

So nothing new from ati until winter of this year, most likely...except of course better availability of the dual gpu card, and the redux card of this gen's chip.

As stated above, 26th was indeed the day for nvidia. I hope EVGA has a step-up for the card I just bought 2 months ago. If so I'd probably go with a 470 SuperClocked. $650 for the 480 Hydro Copper FTW. whaaat! Crazy.

Yeah I'm not holding out much hope for being able to upgrade my 260 either. I guess their 'Step Up' program is more limited than I thought. I really don't see that as a selling point for their products like I initially thought.

I'll have to see what the performance is like before I decide if I want to bother or not since I seldom play games on my PC anymore. I might just wait until these have become 'past gen' and like half the price.

I can't see upgrading my nVidia 285 card any time soon. I do play Aion but my card has zero issues with that at max settings.

I plan on checking out Tera and Blade & Soul when those booby bouncing MMOs are released but can't imagine having any graphics performance issues even with these yet to be released games.

Yup. No point in doing that for me either. I just don't play PC games that much anymore.

And I'd stick with the 285 as well Winnow! Great card, and it is hard these days to justify upgrading until the price drops substantially.

at 1920 x 1200...my gtx260 (original one) still does just fine. There's absolutely no reason to upgrade nowadays...cpu, gpu, or otherwise it would seem.

It depends on what you use it for really. For the average person I would say that's the case. My Core 2 6600 was working just fine for me. Only reason I bothered to upgrade was that it died and I didn't have much choice.

However anyone who pays $650 for a graphics card is either dumb or has too much money. Possibly both.

my comp is for gaming and porn...in either order. e6600 OC'd to 3+...not sure it even needs to be, but it has been for 2 years now with no complaints

Agreed though, if it died, I would upgrade to i7 for sure.

Well, the 460 was a pretty shitty card. I'm glad they replaced it. Nvidia is still behind and playing catch up with Radeaon.
