2010 Finished Games List

Post by Fairweather Pure »

Here is where we keep track of which games we've finished for the year. I think keeping our small group of remaining posters playing and discussing on the same thread would be better than splitting us up into console specific threads.

--What counts as finished?

Well, I say it's when you see credits roll (if possible). Some games are perpetual, such as sports games, things like Battlefield 1943, and many others. For these, it's whenever you feel you've accomplished the goals you set out for yourself in the game. For something like L4D, it may be as simple as playing through all the maps, or as complicated as getting every acheivement in the game. We're using the honesty system here, so when you've finished a game, go ahead and list it!

What counts as complete?

This is a significant difference over simply finishing a game. Completing means you have snagged 1000/1000 acheivements or platinum trophied the game. You have done everything there is to do in that game. This counts for games as large as Fallout 3 and as small as an XBL or PSN game. If games have no "proof" or scoring method, it's all you're decision.

--What counts as a game?

It's a harder question than you maight think. For instance, when tallying up the games I finished last year, I had to really think about some particular situations. One such issue was "Do I count each piece of DLC for Fallout 3 seperately"? My answer was yes. However, the DLC for Gears 2 and L4D were only one map, so I chose not to count them. I totally counted Peggle on my iPhone, since I beat that like a rented mule. In the end, it's up to you. Some situations will just depend on your personal opinion on what you consider as a game, or just an addition to the game itself. More examples are the latest Borderlands DLC (not games IMO) and the GTA4 expansions Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony (both games!).

--Do multiple playthroughs count?

I say yes! I played the single player of Halo 3, Gears 1, and World at War only to play all the way through them again at a later time in co-op mode with a friend. I plan on doing a co-op run through RE5 sometime this year. I count each one of those complete playthroughs as finishing another game. I think you should give yourself credit for the time/effort it takes to play through your favorite games multiple times. This also helps ensures that you continue to play games for enjoyment.

--What systems count?

All of them. iPhone, PC/Steam, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, fucking anything and everything!

The format will be as such:

Date - Game - System - COMPLETE

Only use the red completed msg when you have completed a game. The rest are just assumed that you finished a game.

Jan 3rd 2010 - Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - PS3 - FINISHED
[*]Since there are no trophies associated with the game, I figure completed status on this comes with finishing all the sub objectives and maxing out all weapons/armor.

Jan 3rd 2010 - Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty - PS3 - COMPLETED
[*]I write completed simply because there is nothing in this game to do other than the story. It does not have any trophies either.

If you don't already have spare credit on the PSN, don't bother with this. While there's fun platforming to be had here, the value for money ratio just isn't there. The only thing you find out here is which system the Zoni took Ratchet and a sneek peak at the bad guy in Crack in Time.

Assassin's Creed 2 - Complete.. Finished.. Whatever. Platinum trophy and all treasures and side missions completed. Nothing left to do!

Burnout Paradise (PS3) - Platinum! All core trophies completed. As they added a bunch of DLC this is something I wont ever 100% complete just because most of the DLC, other than Big Surf Island, sucks and I wont be buying it.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3) - Platinum! Finally. 100% complete. Shock and Awe can go jump off a building.

PixekJunk Shooter (PS3) - 100% Complete. It's a PSN title so no platinum :(

Critter Crunch (PS3) - 100% Complete.

Braid (PS3) - All worlds and puzzles complete. Trophies not 100% complete as I don't feel like doing a speed run in this game.

flOw (PS3) - Finished!

Flower (PS3) - 100% Complete!

Trine (PS3) - 100% Complete. Platinum!

Fat Princess - Finished

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - 100% Complete. Yay Platinum!

Dante's Inferno - 100% Complete. Platinum!

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - 100% Complete - Platinum!

Prince of Persia - 100% Complete - Platinum!

Just Cause 2 - Trophies 100% Complete.. Platinum!

God of War 1 - 100% Complete - Platinum!

God of War 2 - 100% Complete - Platinum!

The Saboteur - 100% Complete - Platinum!

Darksiders - 100% Complete - Platinum!

God of War 3 - 100% Complete - Platinum!

Borderlands - 100% Complete - Platinum! (DLC not included)

After the insane steam deals at the end/beginning of the year, my resolution was to go through my steam games list and knock them all out - I started keeping a list on FB

--------
MW2 Single Player - Finished

--------

Bioshock 2 - Done
Pyrella - Illusionist - Leader of Ixtlan on Antonia Bayle

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?

I appreciate your enthusiasm Py, but you're post is going to be impossible to look over with 365 days!

Thanks for the sticky.

My goal is 50 games this year, which I'm already behind my quota, lol. My wife has a new camera, so whenever I finish a game, she's photographing my celebration. Corny, but fun!

I think you're missing a category then. What about games you can Platinum or 1000/1000 but still not have 'everything' done such as Ratchet and Clank with the Skill Points and Assassin's Creed 2 with the treasures and even the side missions.

miir wrote:I consider a game 'complete' when I finish the single player campaign.
That's why I gave the definition given above. In order to get 1000/1000 or whatever, you have to devote a considerable amount of time over and above merely finishing a game. This can be 2 or 3 times longer than just finishing. Aslanna is a good example of someone on this board who pretty much completes every game. I have a random guy on my xbox friend's list who has completed almost every game he owns. I think that level of dedication is crazy, but I admire it in a weird sort of way! You know when you've completed a game. This isn't an epeen contest. This is merely a way of keeping record of your gaming accomplishments.

Btw, I like how Py considered completing MW2 and Prestiging as 2 games. I hadn't really thought about it before, but that's totally accurate. I would even count getting all stars in Spec Ops as a 3rd game!

I'm fucking stuck on Fat Princess atm. I keep thinking that will be a fast one to add to my list, but I'm at a deadlock on the Deep Fried level on single player. I've put around 3-4 hours on that level alone and gotten nowhere.

I'm also pretty close on Assassin's Creed 2, so that is my top game right now.

Dawn of War 2 is one of the best PC games I have ever played. As a fanboi of 40k, that's going to be hard to top. The expansion is out in March (I think) and I will play the fuck out of that too.

Uncharted 2 down. It was a great game, but certianly not my GotY. After playing AC2, with it's free-flow climbing, it was a little frustrating at times trying to figure out where the game wanted you to climb in UC2. Also, the jumps were a little hard to judge, with the game seeming to give you an extra boost at times to make what would appear as an impossible leap. It had it's fair share of seemingly never ending downpour of bad guys, but the shooting was a bit more refined since the first one, so it wasn't as bad to deal with IMO.

Great game. I wonder why people and critics flipped thier collective lids over the sequel and didn't do likewise for the original. It was as good as the first Uncharted, but I really wouldn't rate it any higher.

Looking over the completed lists for Jan, damn, we got us some gamers on this here msg board! Those are impressive numbers.

I thought for sure I was going to finish Rockband 2 in Jan, but that game seems to never end. FYI, I have 9 "band" games and have never officially finished a single one. I always play single play or often didn't have my memory card when playing with friends. I've now copied all my data to my card and am going to make an effort to knock 1 of those out per month-ish between other games.

Should add to the results something along the lines of "would you have played it knowing then what you do now: Again/Never"

Assassin's Creed 2 | 360 | Again
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 | 360 | Again
BioShock | 360 | Again (this was 2nd time)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 | 360 | Never (SP mode)
Dragon Age: Origins | PC | Again

I am totally sucking in March. I've been spreading my time over a good 5-6 games at once. Not focusing is really showing on my completed games list and is in danger of putting me behind for my yearly goal! Hopefully a lot of those games will be finished at or around the same time, boosting my total games up to current goals.

Plants vs Zombies on the iPhone is a long ass game. I figured that would be a quickie, but it's prooving to be anything but.

March has been a 2 horse affair for me spit between Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Final Fantasy 13. I haven't finished either SP campaigns and am 1 trophy short of finishing the Bad Company 2 Multiplayer trophies.

Maybe I should play a bit more God of War 2. I'm probably half way through that and it could be a quick finish.

Raiden IV took a whopping 2 hours to beat, unlocking around 400 gamer score. Fun, but difficult game. I look forward to having my friend over and beating it with 2 players and getting another 400 gamer score out of it. I've been working on GTA4 (again) as well. I think I'm at that weird point where I'm half way finished with about 5 different games. I need to focus and knock them out. I'm pretty far behind on my gaming quota!

Also, Deadly Premonition should be arriving today :)

EDIT: I've also been playing an unusual amount of MW2 and W@W multiplayer, which have no acheivements and I've already beaten the single player in both games. W@W has excellent multiplayer!

APril has been my worst month yet. All I've been playing is multiplayer games. However, May is going to be a turn around month for me! I'll finish some games, dammit! Not to mention the fact that there are 3 "day 1" purchases for me in May...

Only for sure day 1 purchases for me this year yet that have set release dates are:
Lost Planet 2 - May 11th
ModNation Racers - May 25th
Crackdown 2 - July 6th

Not that I'm complaining, I'm slowly making up some ground on the games I haven't played. Been pushing my way through Final Fantasy 13 for a while now.

Lost Planet 2 5/11
Alan Wake 5/18
Red Dead Redemption 5/18
Blur 5/25 (waiting for a sale on this)

I wasn't anticipating Red Dead Redemption at all until the last several trailers. Now it's day 1.

I got done plating God of War 1. All I thought while paying through was this is no Dante's Inferno.

It was! And I know comparing games made 5 years apart isn't quite fair but nobody seems to have a problem with it with when comparing DI to GoW so hey it works both ways.

Not defending Dante's Inferno (my wife rescently beat it), but visually it was more interesting than GOW3 (GOW3 was better from a technical standpoint of visuals) and the upgrade system encouraged more diverse behavior than the "fuck it, I have a ton of points in chains anyhow" mentality of GOW3. Combat in GoW3 seemed smoother (from what I have played of it).

As for God of War vs Dante's Inferno ... God of War 2 was a much better game than the first. If I had to rank Dante's Inferno along with the first two God of War games I'd probably say, in order of what I thought was better, God of War 2, Dante's Inferno, then God of War. I get that DI "borrowed" (stole. Whatever you want to call it but a lot of other games do it as well) a lot of elements from God of War that doesn't necessarily make it a bad game. Disagree all you want that wont change my opinion!

And yeah in the first two GoWs I used the default weapon pretty much the whole game. And most of the magic was pointless to upgrade. I don't think I used the Gorgon gaze thing or the Atlas attack the whole game in #2. Not really taking points off for that though since you could beat DI by pretty much just spamming the cross attack and there was a lot of upgrades or combos there I didn't use either.
