HDMI cables

So, now that I came into the new times and got a tv.. I was curious about how much (if any) a difference it makes to have a better/higher speed HDMI cable. I have Googled a bit but all I can seem to find is statements on the differences in the specs, which is really awesome since you can read that on the packaging..

I just want to make sure there is a point before I spend 100 dollars on a monster hdmi cable.

I am fairly certain that the only time the higher dollar cables are really necessary is if you are going for something over 20'. I remember watching a local news network test them out in their editing studio, and the 2-3 dollar versions were just as good up to 15-20 feet.

Only spend $100 on a Monster Cable if you are mentally unstable.

Get a 6$ cable. You won't know the difference.

There is no reason to spend more than $10 on a HDMI cable.

Buy cheap ones. It doesn't matter unless long as booger mentioned.

Out of curiosity, what does the faster speed (15gbps vs 10.2gbps) help with when it comes to length? I wouldn't think even with a long cord that the time the signal takes to go through the cord would matter that much.

It means that you should ignore all the Monster marketing bullshit and just buy cheap HDMI cables.

Amazon and NewEgg can be good resources as well, but those are pretty sweet deals listed above.

I've bought several HDMI and Network cables from these guys. All of them work great. I love their selection. I was able to buy specific colors and lengths to have everything well organized. If you look at the avsforums, monoprice is pretty much the most recommend place to buy cables from.
