I searched but didn't find anything on these games.
While checking out Armored Princess, I found that King's Bounty: Legend came out in 2008 so grabbed it off the newsgroups (posted ~215 days ago)
It's basically a Heroes of Might and Magic clone although it's better IMO in a few ways.
-The mobs on the open map aren't entirely static and can chase you down.
-The battle maps are hex not square based, giving you more movement possibilities.
-Much less worrying about resources although they are there, you don't have to worry about maintaining ore/wood locations, etc
-three talent trees with each talent levelable
-Graphics are very nice and smooth, sell polished for a HoMM type game.
-More of the Mob Units seem to have special abilities that you can use during battles
I'm not too far in but from having played HoMM games in the past, can say that anyone that enjoys turn based strategy will love this game. From reading comments, it looks like people put about 70 hours into the game.
King's Bounty: The Legend is the 2008 game
King's Bounty: Armored Princess is the new release for 2009 and adds about 30 hours (stand alone game)
Here's a fan site for the first game so you can check out the Army Units, Heroes, Spells, etc:

here's a video showing the game to give you an idea of what it's like:

The dialogue doesn't take itself seriously and is mostly jokes. Fun game.
