Heroes Vol. 5 : Does Anyone care anymore?

Post by Animalor »

So I'm still watching Heroes. The first 2 episodes have some good highlights.

Some interesting setups going on right now with Parkman/Sylar and Peter Petrelli/the Circus folks. Nathan discovering the Sylar powers could be interesting.

Claire is still the weak link in the whole thing to me, it's funny that Mr. Bennet is such a good character. Hiro and Ando were in the pilot with another stupid story arc completely removed from the rest of what's happening. Seriously those two wore out their welcome by season 2.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with Peter's co-worker that can see sounds (or how that can actually be useful) but we'll wait and see. I suspect that she'll be flushed by mid-season.

I'm kinda happy that they are focusing on characters finally and not on some sort of pending apocalypse again.

I didn't read your post.. But the answer to your question is: No. On previews I saw that the Ali Larter character was back.. And also Sylar.. And I totally lost interest. Am I wrong or wasn't the original plan to have different characters every season? Yet we keep getting the same old shit over and over. Or when they do bring some new people on they suck.. ie Maya and her lame brother. Although I think the abilities they gave them sucked more than those actual characters but it was hard to separate the two.

I had no idea this show still exists until it somehow wound up on my DVR. I deleted.

I think I watched season 2. I may at some point check out season 3, but the allure really isn't there for me anymore.

This storyline looks like it has some real potential, so i will watch. It has been pretty solid with some good arcs forming. Ill continue to watch with low expectations and should be entertained. If it gets real good mid season like season 1 did, and then falls flat again, I'll be done with it.

If the series debuted in 2006, how the hell is it 'Vol 5' ?

They don't do traditional seasons like most shows. They do a block of shows and call it a volume. So it is volume 5, but season 4.

I haven't watched the new ones yet, the last "season" didn't do much for me.

I think season 3 was split in 2 volumes last year. Pre-holidays and post-holidays.

Oh yea, last season when they sorta just threw away the first half of the season and started a new storyline mid-season.
Almost forgot why I stopped watching this show.

Heroes is a little too schizophrenic for my tastes.

I thought the two-volume split was a result of the writers' strike a couple years ago?

Either way, I don't think I finished watching last season, but I've watched the first couple this year. I hate to give up on a show that is so clearly aimed at us, even if it's executed poorly. I don't want them to schedule a second hour of Jay Leno or some ridiculous reality show instead.

According to IMDB, its now season 4, not 5, but year, they changed storyline in the middle of season 4 and fucked up any clue to what was going on...from seeing episode 1-2, im hoping for this to be better than season 2-3, the carnival is promising, but they SO gotta do something to make Hiro interesting. He went from being my favorite hero to a bothersome idiot.

Not interested.

It has been replaced with Californication, Dexter and Rescue Me, all of which I'm in the process of catching up on. I wish someone would have told me of the abundance of hot naked chicks in Californication, I'd have been watching it ages ago.

Short answer, no.
Wife and I actually enjoyed the first few episodes. Neither of us care any longer. Didn't even get to the end of season 1.

I don't know, I just enjoy watching my food, travel, sports, stand-up comics and Family Guy these days. I really don't seem to give a shit about any lousy story arcs or canned laughter any longer.

Don't care. The following shows are about all I watch on TV with the exception of kids shows my daughter asks me to watch with her (Let's hear it for WordGirl and Dinosaur Train... ).

Dexter - awesome in every way
24 - just because
True Blood - a guilty pleasure with horrible acting IMO

I may rent the DVDs for Californication someday. I saw 1-2 episodes in the background at a friend's house while we were doing other stuff and it looked enjoyable.

The first season of HEROES was excellent.

Sylvus merged the original season's thread but before that happened, it had the highest post count of any TV thread on VV.

Remember the first season's awesomenessness and forget the rest.

It has been okay so far. I'm not in love with it like I was in Season 1, but it is still watchable. Barely.

The story arcs this season sound interesting, so I'll watch it for a while yet. It does get recorded though, we don't watch it live.

I'm actually enjoying this season quite a bit. It has its cheesy moments, but there are some interesting character developments, as well as some new alliances being forged.

It's not up there on my "must watch" list each week, but it's worth watching if you've not got much better to do. :)

After Tim Kring said he realized time travel was being used as a crutch for bad writing and needed to be taken out of the show, and then after one season of it being gone, he turns around and starts to do it again, the thought of watching it again makes me laugh.

Time Travel isn't used as a major plot driver this this particular season though, no revelation of a big possible evil. Hiro has been mostly seen teleporting and the time travel is fairly self-contained.

3 years later.. Does anyone still care? Apparently Microsoft does. They might be the only one!
Microsoft reportedly looking to revive 'Heroes' TV series as Xbox original content

Save the cheerleader, launch a new programming initiative?

MSN, which is making a big push into original programming via Xbox, is in talks to revive NBC’s superhero drama Heroes, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Details remain sketchy, but sources confirm that MSN is interested in relaunching the once red-hot NBC Universal franchise with new stories and heroes, while mixing in cameos from the original series’ cast (schedules and interest permitting). The talks are said to be in the preliminary stages.

In February, MSN hired former NBC development executive Jada Miranda to oversee production of its fledgling Xbox entertainment studio under ex-CBS president Nancy Tellem (who came on board last fall).

Heroes‘ four-season run on NBC ended in February 2010.
I guess it COULD be interesting.. Starting with an all new cast. And not repeating the mistakes of the original series with 5 minutes of story per character each week (if you were lucky).

The first two seasons were good. It should have ended after that. The HEROES threads on VV were huge for the first two seasons. BSG, LOST, etc...crappy endings seem to make TV shows fade away but don't forget how great the journey was before they crapped out. Only shows that get cancelled early (Deadwood, Firefly, etc) seem to be remembered fondly.

I guess nobody cared. Cancelled! Or not getting a second season which it would have if the ratings were any good.
Speaking with reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday, Jan. 13, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed that "Heroes Reborn" is not returning for a second season. While the news saddens some viewers, a lot of fans are actually relieved that the "Heroes" revival series is coming to an end after just one season.

"This show sucked so bad," one fan wrote. "It was way worse than the later season of the original. Basically this was like an exact copy of the original but with worse actors. For me, I can't believe they made the horned rimmed glasses guy [Noah Bennet played by Jack Coleman] such a big part. He is a terrible actor."

Another viewer, who is also not satisfied with Coleman's performance, wrote: "[There's an] absolute lack of any emotion in Noah after the initial tears after finding out Claire [played by Hayden Panettiere on 'Heroes'] died. She was his sole motivation for doing anything in the original series, and after he finds out how she dies in 'Reborn' he hasn't even wavered."

"I wanted this show to work as I loved the beginnings of the original. Unfortunately, they didn't learn from their mistakes," another viewer commented. " All the jumping around with no real answers, the lame plot with Claire's twins, the lame new characters, and the pointlessness of it all was painful to watch."
Claire died, whaaat? Someone forgot to save the cheerleader...
