Velk's Lab question!

Post by Dregor Thule »

Was discussing EQ with some current WoW guildies on Vent the other night and we were talking about Velk's Lab. One guy was swearing that it was raised in level because no one went to it, but I don't remember that at all. Was this true?!

People didn't go to it because it sucked!

Although some people really liked it. Those people suck!

I don't think the level range was ever increased from what I recall.

That's what I thought. And that zone was awesome! Pulling on those ice ramps was a challenge and an art form.

I used to love Velks lab. ToFS sucked though! What the hell was the name of the mines you got to going through the Chief's camp in GD? I used to spend a shitload of time down there.

God they should have made Velious the next EQ2 expansion.

Way too much time in there farming crystal silks for thurgadin gate potions, and blocks of velium etc.

Velks was definitely in my top 3 favorite zones... I loved being a puller in that zone, and also spent a lot of time 2 boxing it.

I spent a lot of time in Velks too, it wasn't my favorite zone but I liked it quite a bit. I too wish they would hurry up and make the Velious expansion for EQ2, that would get me playing again in a heartbeat.

I loved Velious. Thurg was my favorite city. This is making me want to install old EQ just to run around in those Velious zones.

I would.. but I don't have the CD keys anymore. I have the discs up to POP but when I moved up to Alaska I got rid of all the boxes/cases and had written down the CD keys. Sadly the book I wrote them down in was put in the trash a couple of years ago. I thought I had re-written the keys out but haven't found them. :(

Velks was great. I duo'ed Lizzar there for like 9 levels for the velium and sweet sweet XP, and decent cash drops on top of it.
Wasnt that hard to pull from when you got the hang of it really.

And yeah, CC rocked, spend a lot of time down there for velium too, i could kill the miners on top, drop down the hole, kill EVERY miner (left whatever oracles/non-miner PHs) and get up again before respawn time.

Heh - I'd forgotten about Lizzar being your alt. I still remember assisting him/her with Oowump or whatever his name was in TD (part of the shackle quest, iirc). I think I was there killing birds with my necro or something.

I always liked to destroy Skyshrine for velium. I'd loop around slaughtering stuff and use the forge to break it down and then bank it when I got full.

Heh, the shackle quest was the best quest in EQ, period.
The utter terror of a visit to Plane of Fear, all alone, FD dropping my way to CT to talk to him, knowing that aggro from anything near him = DT was great :) Took 3 hours to get near him + be able to speak to him without aggro.

And this was BEFORE the 2 min FD reset, i had to /q out after every FD and log in again and hope i didnt die before i got in :)
