------------------------------

** Interface **

- All settings for the Songs window should now be saved properly when the player logs out.
- Fixed a bug that could cause the Bit Depth and Refresh Rate setting to not save properly upon exit.
- Users of Windows XP should no longer be seeing their Windows mouse cursor or other windows 'bleed through' into the game.

** Gameplay **

- Changing from an old model character to a Luclin model character at character select should no longer result in the character having no hair.
- Fixed a bug that caused merchants to charge a little extra or less (1 copper).
- Merchants will no longer claim that they will pay 1 copper for starting equipment (they have never actually purchased such items).

** Spells **

- Fixed a problem with the Giantsbane Spell quest NPCs not spawning in Skyshrine.
- Failing to hide while invisible will now make the invisibility icon disappear.

** Trade Skills **

- Many Planar Recipes can now be used in collapsible containers. Some Planar Tailoring can only be done in the Tanaan Loom as opposed to the Planar Sewing Kit. Nothing that was previously made in the Loom was added to the collapsible tailoring kit. Skills changed were Baking, Sewing, Jewel Craft, and Fletching.
- Added gnome cultural recipe book to Ak'Anon.
- Changed the weights on Spiritstones to be more in line with Faithstones.
- Changed Collapsible Jeweler's Kit to 6 slots from 4.

** Zones **

- Grummus is much more likely to stay in his home.
- Fixed the door to the Ak'Anon zoo, by request of the Zookeeper's Union #23.
- Newly created Wood Elf Druids will now make their first appearance in the world much closer to their guild master.
- Fennin Ro is now more durable, more in line with the other elemental plane gods.
-Rallos Zek now moves considerably faster then before, as do his cohorts. He will also become very, VERY angry should he be removed from his lair(s).
- Skyshrine will once again require a key for exit into the Cobalt Scar. The fact that the key was not needed was a bug. We do understand that few people actually walk through this area considering the other methods of transport available, but the dragons aren't leaving their doors open.

** Items **

- Corrected the inventory icon for the Acrylia Studded Legs and the Two-Handed Practice Sword.

What's the deal with Rallos? I've never had the oppertunity to enjoy his encounter, and prolly never will. Just wondering.

Oh, and..

They're patching for LoY and bung in some small fixes. I don't see much to bitch about. But EQ players. . .

btw:
yoros
I think this is a racist slur. Always bothers me that it gets tossed around so lightly when other forms of racial insult are taboo (rightly, IMO).

I wasn't complaining about the patch. Just fail to see what was so earthshattering that it couldn't have been pushed on Tuesday.

so, would Team Japan be less offensive? Canada is regularly chastised on the board, why would a word that associates you with a country or region be that offensive? I seriously think the world has become to P.C.

I don't get offended when I hear people from the south referred to as crackers or red necks. It's a stereotype and it does portray some people from this region, just semantics I guess.

on another note... thank goodness they don't wanna pay me 1 copper for that newbie tunic. I always got my hopes up when they offered.

No but that doesn't mock them. I don't use the term myself seeing as it has the same number of syllables as "japanese" which is the word it's replacing.
Would you call a japanese person a 'yoro' to his/her face?

Canada is mocked without the use of racial slurs though. And in general it's directed at the actual canadians that post here, and is in fun. Calling a Canadian "Canadian" to his/her face isn't going to get you a beating.

You do know that yoro is Jap for "hello", right? Give me a fucking break. Yes, I do say yoro to japs when I group with them or trade with them. I'm glad you're angry for all the jap players in EQ since I never met one that could give a fuck less.

Yes, I typed japs. Have another goddamn moral breakdown over an abbreviation.

Some people are just anal. I said the n word to a black person yesterday and I think Tanc would be more offended than they were. It's more the context of words than the word itself.

Actually I was under the impression it meant 'please'. Saying it in context and referring to the japanese as a race by it are two different things though. I know you're not stupid enough to miss this distinction.

I put this up here for discussion. I consider it a borderline racist term and wondered what other people think. I'm neither angry nor offended on anyone's behalf (so go fuck yourself Melrin) merely curious. I assume you're all going off here because I touched a nerve. Now go mop up the blood from the aneurysm you appear to be having.

Now go mop up the blood from the aneurysm you appear to be having.

WTF that brought back memory of a TLC program I saw few years ago.
It was one of those "Emergency room" series and it showed a girl about 10 year old. During a flight she suddenly started complaining on severe headache, passed out, mother in panic, emergency landing and all.
By the time they got her to a hospital there was nothing they could do to revive her. Reason? Massive aneurysm.
It was one of the rare moments I cried while watching TV.

yoro-siku is a vulgar term which has no english translation. It is most definately NOT 'hello' in Japanese.

Here's some more ways to say 'hello' to the 'japs' on Veeshan.

kichi gai
in ran on-na
chiki sho
ba ka
ku so

ok then why do japanese players say yoro - at least infrequently - in public channels? i'm just curious

incidentally, who else remembers the days before the Japanese figured out the /g command?

Would you call a japanese person a 'yoro' to his/her face?
My boyfriend is Japanese. I call him yoro when he gets home tonight and see what he thinks. My guess is yoro is distinctly EQ and/or message board slang. I am certain "TT yoro" is and I am certain I do not know what TT means either. I suspect he is not offended in the least.
I put this up here for discussion. I consider it a borderline racist term and wondered what other people think.
That is a load of crap. You are backpeddling and for no apparent reason other than you were labeled PC. If you have convictions stick with them until someone gives you an convincing arguement why you should not. If you don't have convictions, then don't spout off as if you do hoping to see the support of many "I agree" posts to follow.

Here is what you originally posted -

"I think this is a racist slur."

Now it has suddenly been reduced from a racist slur to a "borderline" racist slur.

You follow and conclude with -

"Always bothers me that it gets tossed around so lightly when other forms of racial insult are taboo"

That is not a question calling for dicussion and wondering if others agree. It is a statement of opinion and one you apparently were not as secure about as you originally posted, since the slightest amount of peer pressure has you backing off your original statement. In the furture, should you wish to ponder what other people might think about a question you are not certain about - I recommend the use of a "?" somewhere. Here would be a nice structure for what you now proport to have meant. "I think the use of the term "Yoro" to refer to japanese EQ players could be a racial slur. What do you all think?" There you are. An easy to follow modle should you wish to ask this community a question in the future.

My mother is from Japan, and as a representative of my people on this here message board, yoro is not a racial slur. I always see Japanese players ooc or shout 'XX LFG - yoro'. I've asked myself if players in my group were 'yoro'. BFD. I consider Jap more offensive than yoro, but I don't really get offended by words... just people.

Please is Japan is kudesai, and thank you is domo arigato. Hello can take several forms... Kon bon wa, mushi mushi, Ohyo gozimasu are a few.

By the way, I don't consider myself Japanese-American... I'm American.

I beleive Chef on southpark was most right when he stated it was ok to make fun of (or use slang) based on where people are from...but not because of race they are. hell you can have white and black japs too..

Granted, I'm an evil white man, but I disagree that using "yoro" to refer to people who speak Japanese is racist. People refer to the Japanese-speakers as "yoros" because it is a word that is commonly spoken, race having absolutely nothing to do with it. Do Japanese Americans get offended by it? The analogue would be calling a group of players from the south "y'allers" or somesuch, and I really don't think that would be offensive.

People need to ease up on the sensitivity and political correctness. If there is any ill-will toward any "yoros" it has absolutely nothing to do with who they are as a group of people and absolutely everything to do with the fact that the patch schedule favors skilled players from that particular region of the world (read: timezone) for server-up mobs.

/edit: well I guess Zyphir answered part of that. Damn work pulling me away from a message I'm in the middle of writing, they should know better!

Voro, I think they type --yoro-- after things in public channels as a kind of code.

/ooc 57 druid LFG --yoro = /ooc 57 druid LFG, I'M JAPANEESE

Japaneese players recruit other yoros first, in my observations. I think it's kind of funny because 9 times out of 10, the character names are a dead give away. If not the name, then the guild names are generally pretty goofy.

In reguards to suppossed racist slurs, I find it odd when someone has to tell me I'm being racist. I'm not racist. The fact that I know this, while you try to point out otherwise, just makes me think that you're being an asshole and looking like an idiot in the process.

The first yoro I ever grouped with was in LOIO around 3 years ago. He joined the group and said "yoro" followed by "I mean hello". He continued to communicate exceptionally bad (and play badly for that matter). Finally, we realized he was Japaneese. I did assume yoro meant hello due to that encounter. Reguardless of it's actual meaning, there is no ill meaning connected to the word in all the ways I've seen it used.

Oh yeah, my GF is 1/2 Japaneese (her mother being straight from the island nation) and she thinks yoro is kinda cute. I call her my yoro. :P

Definately not in a dereogatory manner.

there is no contest with Team JPN. that is the point. they have uncontested spawn privelages for mobs that spawn on server up. WELCOME TO VEESHAN!!!!

nobody is making a huge deal of it. there are really not much problems (that i hear of anyways) between Japanese guilds and American guilds these days. Back in the day, some Japanese guilds were notorious for exploiting everything from plane breaks to Vox, so this isnt something that somebody got mad about last week.

I'm well aware of the complaints about TeamJPN and their uncontested "local prime time" server resets. I just wanted to reply with just as an innane and worthless comment as Fairweather's.

Bullshit. I've been labelled many things here by many people with varying degrees of accuracy and it's water off a ducks back. This is the vault and I've been here long enough to thicken my all ready thick skin and I sure as fuck don't seek approval from the gaggle of tards that dwell here.
Here is what you originally posted -

"I think this is a racist slur."

Now it has suddenly been reduced from a racist slur to a "borderline" racist slur.
It's called clarifying my position. It's not a term I would use. I've never seen it used in anything other than a negative sense here.
You follow and conclude with -

"Always bothers me that it gets tossed around so lightly when other forms of racial insult are taboo"

That is not a question calling for dicussion and wondering if others agree. OK let's clear up a few of your misonceptions and any remaining ambiguity in my posts:
1) I still consider the term racist and don't use it. This is based on my obsevations of it only ever being used in a pejorative sense.
2) There are very few people here I consider my peers so I'm hardly likely to feel any pressure.
3) Using 'racist' terms affectionately between friends is acceptable, as has been discussed on other threads. Bringing it to this discussion is essentially making a straw-man argument.
4) I'm perhaps more careful about my language in this respect than others but I believe "you are what you think" and the link between thought processes and the language we use is a strong one.
5) This community, with maybe half a dozen exceptions, can form an orderly line and take it in turns to suck my balls. As has always been the case.
