mp4-converter

Has anyone tried this with the purchased MP3's (M4A's) from iTunes? If so, does it work? If so, does anyone know of a location for a full copy of this? I've checked all the usual suspects (usenet, torrents) and can't find one.

If not.. does anyone know of a way of removing the DRM from iTunes purchases?

I have this free program called Format Factory that converts just about everything. I don't know if it will do what you want, but it might and it is free so it can't hurt. :)

There's a myriad of programs out there that do this (search for "doubletwist" on this forum for example), but I think they all do it the same way, by simulating a CD write in memory and producing the associated MP3. They don't work if you've already done your 5 burns or whatever iTunes allows.

I liked Doubletwist when I liberated mine and my wifes.

From what I've found, most of the free ones capture the audio mid-stream (between the player and the speaker/output) so to speak so there's quality loss. This one in particular doesn't do it that way (or so I've read) which means no quality loss in the song.

Buy a song from iTunes to make you feel good then download it from the intrernets to bypass the annoying DRM. Boom. Best of both worlds.

Doesn't adding a song to iTunes link it to your iTunes account? As in it adds all your info to that file?

For purchases going forward perhaps, but not ones you already own/have.

30¢ per song to upgrade to DRM free...

Fuck Apple.
iTunes music. Now 100% iTunes Plus.
Now, every song available on the iTunes Store is an iTunes Plus song. That means you get high-quality music with 256-Kbps AAC encoding, making every song you download virtually indistinguishable from the original recording. iTunes Plus songs are all free of burn limits and digital rights management (DRM). So the music you buy will play on iPod, Apple TV, all Mac and Windows computers, and many other digital music players. It’s also easy to upgrade songs you previously purchased from iTunes to iTunes Plus. You don’t have to buy the song or album again. Just pay the 30¢ per song upgrade price. (Music video upgrades are 60¢ and entire albums can be upgraded for 30 percent of the album price.)

I get my music from Amazon when I'm not stealing it.

Interesting. I haven't seen that site.

I normally use Lala.com and switch over to iTunes when Lala doesn't have it available.
