About 2 weeks ago I upgraded to an NVidia GTX 260. Previously I had a 8600GT. Anyways, after the upgrade video playback (especially HD) has been horrible. I get this weird choppy video and fkd up sound. I did a search, and they mentioned disabling hardware acceleration (which didn't sound right). I tried that with various settings and all I got was either fixed video, but out of sync sound or perfect sound no video hehe. I've tried with WMP, VLC and MPlayer and all are experiencing the same issue. Anyone know what the hell is going on? I have an HTPC using an onboard 9400 that is playing HD video perfectly, but my Desktop with a GTX 260 (which for the size of it, I don't expect any problems) is having issues.

Other than trying to completely uninstall/re-install the video card drivers, I don't know what to tell you besides format Try Windows 7 while you're at it...

I did a reinstall of the drivers, I used Driver Sweeper to removing them completely as well. Still have the same issue. formatting wouldn't solve the issue. If I put in my old video card (8600GT) everything works perfectly. BTW, games have no issue at all.

Knowing your media players worked with another card, and having addressed drivers, I would look at the power supply being beefy enough to power that monster, checking that it is seating all the way, and lastly replacing the card.

The PSU is a Thermaltake 850W PSU. XFX asked me to try it on another computer, but none of the other computers have a PSU that has the 2x PCI-Express 6 pin power that you need for this video card. I would have to take the PSU, or move it next to the other computer so I could feed it power...wow what a mission hehe

I guess I could try an install of XP on a spare drive and boot off that clean, install the drivers and see if I still have this issue.
