If you have a hotmail account, it might have bounced. I get about 20 emails a day kicked back to me from the VV email server because of hotmail blocking it for some reason.

Hmm this game sounds a lot like Federation. Fed was the vile game that got me hooked on online gaming in the first place! Was fun as hell though.

I loved Tradewars back in the day, but the game I am really looking for is Barron Realms Elite. I believe that BRE was replaced with another version of the game knows as Falcon Realms??

If anyone knows of a web based version of this game, let me know.

Mutants

Tradewars

Solar Realms
Barren Realms

Arena (?)

Thats awsome! I know several people that would be interested in Barren and Solar Realms. gooie kablooie!

Mutants was fun, but way out there for a text driven game.

Ahhh, what 640k used to be able to get you.

Was mutants the game where you had to kill satan in some insane year, and that you could teleport from year to year to kill mobs, and had monster bait?

If that's I played that game on a local MBBS (Dreamscape, they invented MajroMUD), and made someone quit the board because I used to kill them with 1 hit all the time with the Satan Sword, and used my lvl 40 wizard to lock him out of his home base that he had in one of the sectors. It sure was fun! Just set up a shield wall, and use poison items on satan while he keeps bumping into the wall until he died. Awesome exploit!

Thats the one - dunno about shield walls - and it was impossible to kill anything with 1 hit, always had to lead with a kick, and then hit with satan sword =P

Our sploit was to get 2 people in the same room, one h olding monster bait - not doing anything - the other person would kill to their hearts content since 'aggro' was locked on the person with the bait in hand - basically take hour shifts doing this and happiness for all.

Then they changed it so the mobs would switch off =/

My favorite weapon was the gold 'chunck'

You didn't have to lead with a kick, you simply wielded the satan sword on the opposition. Died in one hit every time, unless of course they managed to steal it from you because you had to wield it for every attack.

I completely forget what you had to type to attack though (something like wield satan sword <insertnamehere>, but it was fun as hell slaying people mercilessly. When the global message that I logged on happened everyone who was playing mutants at the time logged out of the game, it was hilarious.

The walls was a wizard only spell where it would block anyone but you to go in that direction. Generally people used it to protect their areas, however I was an evil prick and used it to lock someone out of their area for a month. Well I left a couple of openings, but they were so buried that the guy could not find them. He sent a huge email to the Sysop crying about it, and then quit because the Sysop told him to deal with it.

Then there was Tele-arena! Now that game was fun too. Be a druid, turn invisible and cast poison on someone and they'd never know until they were almost dead.

Then of course there was the abuse of the online macros and being able to run in and out of a room to reset your attacks if you didn't use all your attacks available to you. You could kill people in like 3 seconds. I did that to one guy who was on a 1200bps modem and he didn't believe he died. Too bad they fixed that bug :(

I miss those days! You really can't spread the online terror like you used to be able to, heh.

We will be doing a universe reset on Friday (sometime)

Bandwidth usage is acceptable so we will probably be hosting it here~

This is your opportunity for feedback for the 'live' game

How many sectors do you want it to be (currently 3000)
Maximum Tech Level for hanging out in Fed Space (currently 8)
Turns per Unit of time (currently 6 turns every 3 mins)

Anything else you wanted added or suggestions, etc

100 more turns to start with would be nice.

Of course, this is my greed talking.

Actually, everything seems to be setup properly. 2500 turns was enough for me to get a foothold.

Maybe turns come quicker then 300 seconds. Same amount of turns, but you don't wait 300 seconds to get the turns. Maybe wait 150 seconds to get 1 turn or something like that.

Settings didn't seem too bad, although the number of sectors might be too high.

Some thoughts on the game in general (not things that you can really adjust for too much). I had fun playing it, particularly at the beginning. But it gets really tedious as you get a sizable empire/income. Monday morning alone I created and colonized 20 planets, all to around 15m pop. It took a LOT of clicking. Colonization seems to be the dominant way to progress mid and end game (other than those that appear to have admin priviledges that is :)). Planets are so easy to defend, unless your opponent has a huge tech advantage, or you mess up and leave yourself vulnerable that I don't see combat really playing much of a role in deciding games. Which means it boils down to who is most willing to spend the time manually going through the colonization process everytime they have the turns/credits available to determine who wins.

Thanks for hosting the game, I did have fun playing it.

if you were to start, say tomorrow - you would have 2500 - since the universe is new there hasn't been that many turns created yet.

or you could use the 1200 something now....and have 2500 tomorrow (something like that, i forget the exact amount, but you can't have more than 2500 pooled turns at any point)
