If reporting the facts leads to "mass panic" then so be it!

And a teenager in Toronto has died just 2 days after contracting H1N1

Wow we're all alive I guess this wasn't worth getting hysterical over like everyone already knew.

Normal Influenza has a mortality rate as well, it's just extremely low. H1N1 is marginally higher and more infectious (I believe I read this, no facts to quote - sorry), so deaths are going to happen, but unlike regular flu-related deaths, they'll get publicity.miir wrote:And a teenager in Toronto has died just 2 days after contracting H1N1
My wife broke her arm yesterday and while in the ER they were handing out masks and told me my daughter wasn't allowed in the hospital proper (beyond the ER). I felt like I was in Asia during the SARS outbreaks.

Re: Swine Flu - Pandemic of dooooom?
I'm pretty sure I had swine flu the weekend before last. On that Thursday, my buddy and I carpooled to work. He was on the tail end of a sickness that had consumed the past several weeks of his livelihood, and was coughing uncontrollably in my car during the hour long commute. By the end of the day, so was I. By Saturday, I had a temperature of 103 and slept all day. By Monday, I was back to normal except for a slight cough. I've never had such a rollercoaster ride of a sickness before so I claim I was swine flu'd!
