Anyone who wants to think about this game, read up.. PS2.
In a nutshell: Dante is back, and he still has his attitude. You can also play the game as Luciva, another demon hunter. Here's the strange part - both characters have their own game disks (comes with 20 with their own stages... tho they are, for the most part, the same stage with a different angel. Luciva has a shorter set of stages, but only two or three dante doesn't have.)
Story: Big evil being sponsored by a big corporation, ect. Come in kill all shut down. You don't get much of it till you play through both to understand what is going on.
THE GOOD:
New monsters, return of Phantom and a cameo of the Griffon from DMC1.
Stages are huge.
GREAT new weapons.
Graphics are good, but I have this feel that somthing is missing.
Sound is great.
You have things to unlock by defeating the game at various difficuty levels... the 9,999 floor Bloody Palace, level select, and costume changes. Also a rumor you can unlock Trish from DMC1.
The cutscenes are beautiful.
Violence content is through the roof.
Dante has a unending number of one liners he delivers to various bosses.. heh.
THE BAD
Normal difficulty - the only one you can select - was cake. I think I died three times, died as in need a continue dead. Two of those were against the last 2 bosses.
The camera is the biggest piece of shit..
Some of the puzzles are redundant, and you'll be going over the same territor many times.
Upgrades are OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS more expensive.
Combo system is a major pain to master.
Lack of a total cohesive storyline.. I mean, one stage I'm jumping out of a burning factory, the next I'm digging around in some ancient ruins without much of a explination why.
Hidden doors. To advance to certain regions, you need to find a door on a street full of them.. only one works.
No "connection" to the bosses. Remember in DMC1, Phantom would insult you, the Girffon would talk to you, the Knight would aunt you.. not so much here.
I beat the game with ~9hrs played, normal difficulty level. That includes both disks.. add about an hour or so to get used to the change in systems. it's lacking the HOROR aspect the first one had.

No where as near as good as the first....no story line for the most part...no character development.....also seamed really short and quick to play through...
Combat was decent..although i think they could have put a little more thought into it...
Whole game felt like they rushed it out...was a let down was looking forward to it as the first one kicked major ass..

Combo system is far from a pain to master, it's basically Devil May Cry 1 with more content, I like that.

no problem.
I generally don't buy games much anymore.. if I'm given them as gifts, great, otherwise I rent. DMC2 was the exception.. I don't MIND shelling out 50$ for it, but i am disapointed in the length.. needs to be longer.
