"View new posts"

Post by Drolgin Steingrinder »

Am I the only one this is happening to?

Whenever I click "View new posts" I tend to get a shitload (3 pages or so) of posts I've already seen. I've checked and it's not because I'm clearing cookies or anything...

Happens to me too. I don't think it's a "view posts you haven't read" - seems to be based off the last time someone responded to a post (i.e. if someone responded in the past 12 hours it shows up).

Just a theory, but that seems to be how it's working.

Is that different than the "View Active Topics" link? That's what I use, and it works pretty well.

/edit: oh yeah, it is. It appears "View New Posts" grabs the last 120 threads with activity in them, from all forums. I don't think it's individual to a user.

My new posts list contains 103 posts, not 120. This list used to drop older posts each day, but this current behavior began a few weeks ago.

Just don't scroll down. It's not a big deal. Unless you're on dialup or something. Obviously the older functionality would be preferred if possible but if not I'm sure we'll manage.
