I've been having a bit of a problem with my computer failing to boot for a few weeks now that I mainly ignored at first. The first few times I just thought something was being a little screwy and force shut it down than restarted and it would reboot after one or two tries.

Unfortunately when I went to start it today it completely refuses to start up even after attempting to reboot it multiple times and leaving it running to see if it will eventually pop up. I have no idea what is wrong with it because when I hit the power everything seems to work; the motherboard starts, fans turn on and I'm pretty sure I can hear the HDD spinning up. Despite this absolutely nothing else happens; the LCD never registers anything and the keyboard never flashes its lights. I'm completely lost as to what could be wrong with it after trying to disconnect everything but the motherboard and video card and than plugging various components back in various combinations nothing changes at all.

If anyone has any clue what the problem could be I could really use the help. In the previous few weeks when it was exhibiting similar problems once the computer was actually up and running I had no problems with it, even leaving it running for a few days in a row.

Bad power supply maybe?

Had same symptoms recently w/ a bad motherboard. Have also seen it w/ a bad power supply...

no beeps when it starts up?

I never installed an internal speaker unfortunately and I don't hear anything from my speakers plugged into the sound card. I'm planning on going and picking up an internal speaker when I get a chance to hopefully figure out what is wrong.

Before you start throwing money at it, I would recommend seeing if any local repair shops will test the PS. I found one near me that would test the PS that I thought was going out when it did the exact same thing you have going on for free. I did not have to buy a new one through them, but they would match the price on a PS that I planned to get at Fry's. I was able to put money into a local business that I refer my friends and family to, and I saved myself about a 1-1.5 hour trip...not to mention a lot of headaches tearing the comp apart and putting it back together.

As stated earlier theres pretty much three causes. A) Motherboards bad, B) Vid cards bad, C) P/S is bad.. What kind of a computer is it? Dell? If so, they have post lights on the back of the tower with a sequence of green/amber lights.. if check the sequence and see what the lights are at.
