Candy

Post by Fairweather Pure »

My wife and I just dumped 30ish bucks on candy for Halloween night. Holy shit, that is a lot of candy! I have about 7-8 pounds to give out. I hope we get enough kids to take all this!

Question:

What is/was your favorite candy to get during Halloween?

What was your worst?

My fav was probably slo pokes. My least was easily black licorice. Just the smell of that stuff makes me gag. Oh yeah, I hate candy corns too, or anything that is made out of that same candy.

I spent around $30 too. My girlfriend and I went to Target last night, they had some decent deals (I think?) on candy. 2 for $4 12oz bags of candy, $6 25oz bags of candy. I made sure to get an assortment of skittles, starburst, reese's (cups and pieces), snickers, butterfinger, nestle crunch, kit kat.

Any of those that I listed made me happy when I was a kid. I hated getting smarties or suckers.

Target was where we went too. Btw, all their Halloween stuff goes on sale either Saturday or more likely Sunday. I cornered the store manager and even he didn't know which day for sure. Apparently that is pretty top secret info for target stores!

They had 22 full sized candy bar packs for 9.99. I'm going to go back on Sunday and buy 2-3 of them and resell them at work for profit :P

Dark Chocolate, smarties, nerds and twizzlers are own. Black licorice and suckers are retarded. I am heading to Target at some point this week to stock up, even though I have never once seen a child under 20 in my neighborhood.

I always get good candies that aren't your every day kind. I'm figuring the kids will have tons of snickers, reeses, twix, etc. I try to go with the 100 grands, pop rocks, peanut butter twix, etc. I personally have bizarre taste in candy. I love black jelly beans, candy corn, peeps, those black and white peanut butter bars... All kinds of gross shit people usually look at me as if I'm an alien for liking. However, I can't stand gummy shit. The gummiest I go are jelly beans (which I love). Anything gummier is grotesque and pointless. I might as well chew a rubber band.

They used to give out candy cigarettes back in my trick or treating days. Those were my favorites.

Candy cigarettes are the best! I loved the chalky ones with the chocolate inside them. I of course, always chewed right into them though.

/waits for someone to start debating which Smarties are the real Smarties.

But not really.

And the best time to pick up candy is after Halloween since it's all on sale! Just remember all things in moderation.

I've always loved the black and orange peanut butter candies. I remember when I was a kid someone gave out these ovaltine chocolate sticks that were good enough to leave an impression on me to this day. I guess there wasn't really anything I didn't like in the bag. Maybe popcorn balls. I don't like getting messy when I eat and that always provided a lot of crumbs. Not saying I didn't like them, just not as much.

I took my kids to my company last night to do some trick or treating and they came home with full pumpkins. (they had the plastic pumpkin trick or treat containers) We are most likely going to recycle this if possible as my kids don't need that much crap. My wife also spent about $30 on bags of candy.

I hated dum dums, and those little celophane packs with about three black and orange cinnamon red hots in them.

I was always happy to see chocolate, or sweet tarts. I still am.

We moved a few months ago, so we weren't sure what to expect this year in the new neighborhood - at least from first hand experience, that is. We were told to expect 75+ kids, so we bought a ton of mixed Hershey and Nestle candy (enough for 4 or 5 pieces per kid). We had about 30 or so and just shut our lights off after we went 30+ minutes without any kids coming by, and the street looks deserted. We have a ridiculous amount of candy left over now, and that was after we told the last dozen or so kids to take as much as they wanted ><

I would say we had about 40-50 kids. I'm pretty much out. We gave every kid a handful.

There's a big church about a mile up the road that had a Frankenchrist fall festival that let out at 8pm. I was expecting a rush of kids following that, or we would have given out a lot more than 4 or 5 pieces each early on. Unfortunately that late rush never materialized. Anyone want about 8 pounds of mixed candy? hah!
