It's a girl!

Well, my wife and I had our second baby at 3:53 EST, 10/14/08.
She was 8lbs 10oz, and 21 inches long. Her name is Maya Kae Looney. She has lots of think, dark brown hair and blue eyes (so far). Her skin tone is also slightly darker than her sister's.
For reference, her sister was 5 weeks premature, being born on 2/23/07, weighing 7lbs 11oz, and she was also 21 inches long. Her name is Bella Marie Looney. She surprised my wife and I by having bright red hair and big blue eyes. My wife is half japanese, so we were kind of expecting dark hair and brown eyes. I think Bella is going to end up being pretty tall. Her mother is 6ft, and Bella is already shooting up fast. Bella is happy, happy, happy, ALL the time.
My wife and I are very excited to see how they interact, and also how Maya's personality will differ from her sister's. Bella has really set a high standard! That girl is a ray of sunshine wherever she goes. She is always beeming smiles, chattering at people, and laughing, laughing, laughing. We're very happy and proud parents.
We have pretty much decided that 2 is enough, but we'll return to the debate table in 6 months and see if we may want one more.
As doofy as it sounds, being a father is one of the greatest things that ever happened to me (so far!).

For the love of God, Maya can EAT. She's a ravenous beast. I've never seen a baby eat so much or so often!
So far it's been going really good. Bella has taken to Maya very well, which is probably a concern shared by all 2nd time parents. My wife is doing well, but is not looking forward to when I have to go back to work. I am a very hands on father, taking on 50% of all the responsibilities of taking care of 2 kids. There are twice as many baths, meals, diapers, and kids to share my attention with. Luckily, when I go back to work I'll still be on my 2nd shift. I actually have flex time, but choose to work a 2nd. I'll get to help out with breakfast, lunch, baths, and prep for nap time. My wife will get a couple hours of "her time" during the day, as well as after 8, when my oldest goes to bed. When she goes back to work, it will be all me for the entire day. It's a lot of work, but it all goes by fast because I enjoy my time so much.
We've started up a second college fund and a bank account for Maya. We also updated all of our legal paperwork in case somethig should happen to us. That stuff is important!
My playtime has been limited to spots of WoW, my 360, and movies. In other words, my life really hasn't changed a great deal

I just have a bit less time for myself overall.
Thanks for the well wishes! It is a joyous time in the Looney household!

My oldest is already getting used to gaming. Feeding Frenzy on the 360 makes her day. She doesn't really know what she's doing, but it can keep her entertained for a whole 15 minutes, so that's saying a lot.
I just introduced WoW to my 13 year old adopted brother. Huge mistake. I get whispers from him about every 2 minutes now. Ugh.

I have a feeling if we go for 3, I'm just gong to get another girl. Not that it would be a bad thing mind you.
Think about what a mental change of gears that is though. After having a girl first, I admit I breathed a sigh of relief knowing I was going to have another. It really is a total adjustment in patterns of raising and parenting between a boy and a girl. Besides, you get to use everything 4 times now. I thought I was doing well being able to use all my girl stuff twice!
I have a co-worker who has 4 boys and he is happy as hell. He also has a stay at home wife and works 3 12hr shifts as a nurse and has 4 days at home. That seems to work out well for him and his family.
