Hello VV,
I got a small problem. Recently I uninstalled WinXP and put in Win98 because of some hardware issues. But I can't find the drivers for the Broadcom modem. I've already gone to the dell website, and also the broadcom site, but I didn't get anything. If anyone would be able to direct me to a link, I would be very grateful.

Step 1: Throw that fucking worthless modem away.
Step 2: Shell out the $30 bucks for a 3Com hardware modem.
Step 3: Reinstall Windows XP.

/agree. As long as you've got a system that can handle it, use WinXP. 98 and ME are outdated for gaming purposes.

XP is recommended for gaming by Tomshardware - http://www6.tomshardware.com/consumer/2 ... index.html

Otherwise, some details about the modem (model number, interface?) would be useful. If its a "winmodem", junk it.

Thing is, I can't. The program my parents run for their business require the program to check the config.sys file. WinXP has changed the way dos programs check for the file settings.. and adjusting the config.sys file doesn't help. I have checked with the program designer and he hasn't ever run it on WinXP and can't help with this problem. So I basically wanted a new modem instead of hashing out another 30 bucks, when I have a decent modem.

Btw, it won't be used for gaming
