10 invites, if anybody wants to check it out.

Basically, it is an off site back up utility, with the ability to also share/sync folders between users and link "public" files to non-dropbox users.

The Terms on that are kind of vague. They essentially say you grant access to your computer without specifying the directory/folder that can be accessed...

Microsoft has started beta testing Live Mesh as well. You can sign up through http://connect.microsoft.com

It allows 5GB of online space, will(eventually) sync the content to all PC, macs or mobile devices that you have in your mesh. Currently it only does XP and Vista. You can set it up to sync the content only between your PC's and avoid the cloud altogether.

It even allows for RDP between computers in your mesh. I needed a sample of my resume the other day from work so I rdp'ed into my home system, copied it from it's current location to my Mesh folder and lo and behold, within 10-15 seconds I had a copy on my work PC as well as on that's not stored on the MS servers.

This is real hot stuff.

Paul Thurott's put together a hands on preview at http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/liv ... iew_02.asp

One of my co-workers signed up to connect and got accepted to the tech preview on the same day so it should be relatively plainless to get in.

Sure it does.

In boogahz defense, this is indeed vague.

If you use the Dropbox site, its content or services, or your files store within it you consent to allow Dropbox to access your computer and/or files placed within the dropbox folder on said computer.

I assume the "computer and/or files" thing is in there because they can't access your Dropbox folder without connecting to your computer. That's what I made of it anyway.
