Air Travel In The Future

Was talking about
A Crude Awakening with someone and one of the things that came up was the fact that undeniably, the worlds oil is going to run out at some point. From now until then it's going to continue getting more difficult to extract and produce. With this in mind, it's believed by some that the possibility is very real that the grandchildren of our children will never have the opportunity to fly in an airplane.
Think about that for a second.. think of how much fuel and oil a plane takes to fly around. Now, think of extremely strained resource levels and space exploration. Think of how big a chunk of resources a rocket takes to get up into space. It's frightening.
So the question is..

it does?
I think it's pretty naive to think that the presidential election going one way or another is going to affect the growing global oil crisis and focus on alternative sources of energy/oil.

I'm just guessing here, but based on the prominent "

" at the end of her comment, I'd say that it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. At least that's the way I read it.
