Ashur, as for "what are you up to?", I don't see the problem really. Obviously, you're on the phone. Is it necessary for the person to ask "So what were you up to / doing before you picked up the phone?" I know I've used "What's going on?" sometimes. Would you rather they just didn't ask at all?

I always associated those with black people. Along with saying ax instead of ask, and handful of other equally obnoxious things.

My wife will call me at work and ask me what I'm doing. My reply is "I'm working". Most women I've ever known are like this. They can't just call up, say "Hi" and why they called. Maybe it's a woman thing.

The only people I have heard pronounce those words that way would be peoples from the carribbaen (I'm sure I spelled that incorrectly) ... and that is just how they talk, it's not incorrect

I admit I throw around "irregardless" on purpose even though I know it's not the grammatically preferred terminology. However, while the preference is to use regardless, irregardless is a valid word so those people who get their undies in a bunch about people using it are a bit irrational.
