When breathing out of my nose with my mouth shut I get this really weird taste in the back of my mouth.

It tastes bad but one of those curious bads where you have to taste it over and over again. I can't seem to get rid of it, I gargled salt water, gargled mouth wash, pushed the limits of my gag reflex by brushing the back end of my tongue, this thing won't go away!

Any ideas as to what's going on? It's been happening on and off throughout the day for about 2 weeks now.

Could be esophogus related, like a fungus or staph-type infection. It's more common than you think.

Try vomiting. flush that shit out

it could be a Nicaraguan throat mite infestation.. do you normally sleep with your mouth open? a buddy of mine had this problem a few years back.. he had a doctor take a look at it and do you know what they found down in his throat? thousands upon thousands of glistening eggs

more alcohol should kill it

And if that doesn't work, just get high.

it feels like it's coming from above the roof of my mouth, like when you put your tongue back and you feel the squishy part of the back of the roof of your mouth, it feels/tastes like it's coming from back there... I have gotten a few of those "tonsil goblins" lately tho

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you might want to see your doctor.

I'm going to agree with Neost. Classic sign of a sinus infection. You also get a kind of odd "metallic-y" smell sometimes as well. Tonsilloliths is another very possible thing, but I don't think you would smell your own whilst still in your throat. If you ever get a tonsillolith, get it out, smash it up between your fingers and then have someone smell your finger. Holy fucking barf!! I love those things!
