Any word on how they got back? Were all charges against them dropped or something? Otherwise, it's totally awesome it's back!

Welcome back!
Since a few months ago, Deimos, the site administrator, lacks the necessary time to take care of the website, because of personal matters he's been needing to attend to. For this reason, he has decided to leave the site staff.
Before leaving, he assigned a new site administrator from among his friends to take care of the site. The old moderator team will continue helping with the site, unchanged. We will try to keep running everything just as it always has been.
The trackers and website seem to be working properly, and should any issues arise, they will be taken care of as soon as possible. The site might be going on and offline over the next days as we work out any problems.
Welcome back, and enjoy your stay!

Guessing the "personal matter" is the lawsuit?

Possibly that. However the way they got shut down was by the CRIAA making threats to the company located in Canada that was hosting their servers, so I'm thinking them getting it back up might be because they got them hosted in a different country (it sounded like this was their plan.)

There's this thing called Piratebay.org.
Maybe you've heard of it? When a torrent site goes down, you simply move on to another one, or move to USENET. Given that piratebay.org has been operating the entire time demonoid has been down (as have 100s of other torrent sites), I fail to see what's so meaningful about yet another torrent site going up/down.

My experiences with thepiratebay, isohunt, mininova, torrentspy, pointblank, mybittorrent (those are just the few I can remember), is that they are complete crap compared to demonoid.
Demonoid has a better layout, far more uploads, more reliable uploads with higher amounts of seeders, less ads, a forum type thing for each torrent so you can hear feedback from people (this has saved me a lot of time). On top of all those features or things that are better tuned on demonoid, the community as a whole is better about seeding things for longer times, re-seeding something if someone requests, etc.
I already stated I don't use USENET because I have zero interest in paying if I don't have to. That about cover it?

Yes. I've had good luck with torrentspy, then piratebay in demonoid's absence.

Piratebay is the faggiest excuse for a "warez" site that exists. If the shit isn't password protected, then it's just plain incorrectly labeled. And if it's correctly labeled, chances are pretty high that a keygen or reg info isn't included. Assuming you make it through all of those obstacles, getting much more than the billionth version of photoshop or some 2003 app posted there is pretty unlikely.
Demonoid is a torrent site as it should be. Good to have it back.

Siji: the only reason you feel that way about piratebay or any of the other tech shit you rant on is because you lack the intelligence to understand it in its most basic form.
It's good to see you're still downloading your warez from a torrent site. At least we don't have to listen to you whine about USENET... yet.

I wanted to download some of The Outlaws stuff cause Green Grass and High Tides rules, and I couldn't find it on demonoid, so I actually did find it on thepirategay and it turned out to be a pretty good download, four of their cd's - good quality.

For those that don't use Usenet, see if your ISP is throttling your torrents:
