Resubscribed to Planetside / interesting stat

So I resubscribed to Planetside yesterday just to relive some memories and hopefully have some fun again and found an interesting stat.

Wetworks is STILL in the top 70s in outfit points earned, compared to the thousands of other inferior outfits on Markov to this day. This holds true while maintaining an average of our total membership in the 1000+ days since last logged in.

D2A is still the leader for Terran Alliance and 666th Devil Dogs are still around for the NC from the listings, didn't jump into any major battles though so I haven't seen them yet.

They've added a Galaxy Gunship which has multiple turrets instead of a troop transport, a cloaked transport ship and some others. Haven't checked out the Battlemech system yet, hopefully it isn't as bad as what I've heard.

Anyone who feels like playing (Or still has Station Access), feel free to look for Waran on Markov. Might try to see about recruiting and resurrecting Wetworks if Planetside keeps my interest again.

I still jump in occasionally, but I never joined VVetworks since it was gone by the time I got my copy of the game running. There are some "fairly simple" requirements to earning the ability to learn the mech certs. I think it required a certain number of kills in the caverns, and cavern base caps...or something like that. They've made a lot of changes to the game since most people left, like Engineering which had a major makeover. I think my highest ranked character is on Emerald/NC.

Latest news, they are merging Emerald and Markov to get more battles in the world again.

Also ran into a surge battle zone on one of the maps where everyone is auto surging around the field. Lots of fun.

With the goal of maintaining a high level of battle between the three Empires of PlanetSide, the two North American servers, Markov and Emerald, will be merged into one server, Gemini, on May 20, 2008.
Starting today, as a part of a select group of past PlanetSide players, you will be able to log in for free until May 21, 2008.

Preserve your Legacy! After the merge, many character names will be duplicated and priority will be given to players who have logged in most recently and to those who created their names first. (See below for name change details.)

As an added bonus, special merits will be given to native Markov and Emerald players to represent your loyalty to your past server. Characters will receive their merits upon logging into Gemini for the first time after the server merger is complete.

Supposedly a new engine that helps with lag issues. If they unfuck the sequel and never add in the gayness of the caverns and other garbage, it has the possibility of being played.

It appears that PS 2 is going to be subscription free and use the micro-transaction model for people that choose to pay for extras. I have a feeling I will end up playing this.

I wish they would eliminate the fee to play for the original right now. I would install it again if they had FTP or had some ridiculously low price on it. From what I see, there is a tremendously low population.

Same for EverQuest really. But SOE likes to double dip. So with the Marketplace they are getting their microtransactions while also charging people the monthly fee.

Beta looks like it should be very close. Almost excited for this type of game again!
