my school email doesn't get spam because of it's "great" filter... but it will filter out important things like oh payment notices from their own emails, teacher emails, and fellow student emails.... all that end with the school abbreviation and .edu. what a joke.

I get maybe 1 month, and it's usually a 419. I've had the same work address for ~10 years and use it strictly for business, it's published all over the place so we must have good filters.

The spam I get is via MAPI groups like +ML Global, etc... I highly doubt any would get through if we had not outsourced Exchange through HP. Not sure why they did this--HP charges a fortune. Spammers also alias the SMTP addresses. Too bad the nekkid pics are getting blocked now!

It is pretty funny though--this is the largest company I have ever worked for and I get more spam here than when I had previously worked for much smaller companies....

Spam is a double edged sword. Make your filters too severe, your false positives increase. Too lax and stuff gets through. The best bet is to find a happy medium.

A good tactic is to double-filter your e-mails but that's quite a bit of overhead.
