Me and several (educated/professional) friends TOTALLY got pranked by NPR when they ran a news segment about the IRS sending equivalent consumer goods to a small percentage of folks identified as extremely likely to use their government economic stimulus payment to pay down debt. It was totally like all their other news articles, with them talking to a couple and all the extraneous sounds that make it sound like real "on the scene" reporting about a couple that was surprised when they got an air conditioner. They even did the whole conversations with several government officials who used all the same lingo/spin we're used to.

We were outraged by the stupidity, which seemed like typical government stupidity, and were suggesting better ways to accomplish the same goals etc.

I was fooled. Good job NPR.

Local radio station in Phoenix reported all day that a bill had passed making all freeways in the city toll roads to make up the deficit.

For April Fool's, I failed one of my junior high students. The joke is, they have now failed three classes and have to repeat the 7th grade.
