Personally, I could never understand why the state was allowed to be created in the way it was.

Because the palastinians lost the war, just like the Indians in north america, the indians in south america, the guals in europe, the celtic brittains on england, and millions of other people displaced by a stronger people.1947–1948 Civil War in mandatory Palestine
Main article: 1947–1948 Civil War in mandatory Palestine
In the immediate aftermath of the United Nations' approval of the Partition plan, the explosions of joy amongst the Jewish community were counterbalanced by the expression of discontent amongst the Arab community. Soon thereafter, violence broke out and became more and more prevalent. Murders, reprisals, and counter-reprisals came one after the other, killing dozens of victims on both sides in the process.
Summarising the military assessments of the British, Jewish Agency and the Arabs, Morris writes, "all observers—Jewish, British, Palestinian Arab, and external Arab—agreed on the eve of the war that the Palestinians were incapable of beating the Zionists or of withstanding Zionist assault. The Palestinians were simply too weak.[31]
During the period beginning in December 1947 and ending in January 1948, it was estimated that nearly 1,000 people were killed and 2,000 people were injured.[32] By the end of March, the figure had risen to 2,000 dead and 4,000 wounded.[33] These figures correspond to an average of more than 100 deaths and 200 casualties per week; in a population of 2,000,000.
From January onwards operations became more militaristic, with the intervention into Palestine of a number of Arab Liberation Army regiments who divided up around the different coastal towns and reinforced Galilee and Samaria.[34] Abd al-Qadir al-Husayni came from Egypt with several hundred men of the Army of Holy War.
Having recruited a few thousand volunteers, al-Husayni organised the blockade of the 100,000 Jewish residents of Jerusalem.[35] To counter this, the Yishuv authorities tried to supply the city with convoys of up to 100 armoured vehicles, but the operation became more and more impractical and more and more died in this process. By March, Al-Hussayni's tactic had paid off. Almost the entirety of Haganah's armoured vehicles had been destroyed, the blockade was in full operation, and hundreds of the Haganah members who tried to bring supplies to the city were killed.[36] The situation for those who dwelt in the Jewish settlements in the highly-isolated Negev and northern Galilee was even more critical.
Since the Jewish population was under strict orders obliging them to hold their dominions at all costs,[37] the situation of insecurity across the country affected the Arab population more visibly. Up to 100,000 Palestinians, chiefly those from the upper classes, left the country to seek refuge abroad or in Samaria.[38]

Looks like it's time to throw the Palestinians a bone and give them a few casinos to operate.

what did I forget we are calling them "native americans" now?

Re: This explains a lot:
Uh.. well, since the people who "discovered" America only called them Indians because they thought they were in India, that would seem like a pretty easy mistake to correct after hundreds and hundreds of years.
But since you wear your ignorance like a crown I doubt that will matter to you.

Re: This explains a lot:
It's not even about the name. It's the situation. Europeans "conquering" America and the Native Americans isn't comparable to this at all. Israel wouldn't exist if it weren't for the US and the United Nations. We've funded their entire operation and war against the Palestinian state out of sympathy after WWII.

Is that correct? UN yes, but I didn't think the US was a significant player in that drama until the '60s when we needed them as a anti communist proxy in the region. Re: This explains a lot:
Truman recognized Israel 11 minutes after they declared independence, and his delegates to the UN were instrumental in getting international recognition. While he didn't send troops or official gubmint cheese to them, there was a flood of US money going there right from the start from the Zionist groups here.
