IPod (Classic) Issue

As I mentioned in another thread, I just got a shiny new iPod Classic 160GB. So far I've put about 80GB of musc on there, and another 10 or so of video. An odd problem though: Some songs/albums that appear on the iPod will not play. They play just fine via iTunes, and they show up in the playlists, but when the iPod gets to certain songs/albums, it'll just skip over the song. Sometimes it's almost immediate (but I can see that it tried to play it by hitting the back button), other times it looks like it tries to play it for a couple seconds, but then nothing.

Anyone heard of any issues like this before? Someone on a google search that I read claimed it might be an issue with the ID3 tags (or other tags attached to the files) but I haven't seen much as far as confirmation. I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about fixing it.

I'm not super savvy on the generations of ipods or whatever, but it's a black 160 gb classic with cover flow, and I think it has version 1.1.1 (the latest) of its software.

Thank you kindly.

I do not have that issue, but the ID3 tags seems like a good area to start. My car CD MP3 player had problems playing Aenima by Tool (due to the A+E letter), but it's level of technology is from 1999.

Out of curiosity, how long has it been since you synched it with your PC? I had a problem like that where only my protected AAC files (the ones I bought from the iTunes store) wouldn't play on my iPod. I resynched and all was well.

Other things you might try:
Hard reboot of the iPod.
Remove all the files from the iPod, then resynch it.

Sorry all I can think of.

I've synced it pretty often.

So far, I don't have a single song purchased from itunes or any other service. All of my mp3's are either ripped by me off of CD's that I own or foraged for (I played a druid!) on the internet.

This reply is similar to the one I found at home last night, and I did play around with one of the albums, removing all tags associated with the mp3s and putting new ones on, which appears to have worked (at least in the case of that album). Perhaps I should go back and strip all the tags off of all of my mp3s and put them back on, using MusicBrainz Picard or something similar. That's going to suck (and take forever) though.

/edit: here too

Musicbrainz at least makes it bearable. I also use some program which I believe is called "taggerandrenamer" which allows you to grab CD info from amazon, when Musicbrainz fails to do it's job. I will get the exact name for it later tonight.

I vaguely remember having some sort of issue with ID3 tags and one of my iPods. Updating the tag fixed the problem.

My biggest problem right now is that I have the Loverboy - Get Lucky album on my iTouch and everytime that man ass in red leather pants with fingers crossed shows up huge on my display when I'm demonstrating the album scroll, people look at me funny.

Album art gone wrong.

If you have changed the name then it will not find the song even if it is listed. I had the same problem.
