Sound Problem

Depending on the program being used, sounds and/or music go through my speakers, or they go through the headset, but never both. As far as I know the Realtek HD (on board) Audio drivers are up-to-date (dated 1/15/2008).

I'm using Windows XP version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2)

DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

The system sounds go through the headset, as well as Sony Acid and Second Life, but iTunes or Media Player and Realtek Audio Manager sounds go through the speakers. Unplugging the headset hasn't made a difference.

I just recently formatted and downgraded to XP. I haven't reinstalled everything, but I have updated XP and all the drivers, as far as I know.

Any suggestions?

try going into the control panel -> sounds and audio devices and checking the audio tab.

check the device, check out the advanced button, and try using the checkbox at the bottom...

might not do it, but worth a shot!

I appreciate the suggestion, but it didn't make a difference. :(
