RAIDERS!

Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice are going to have a prison style ass-rodeo on Rich Gannon. John Lynch and Derrick Brooks are going to hit the Raiders backs and receivers so hard their wives die. The Buc's oversized receivers are going to maul the Raider's banged-up secondary, and Mike Alstott is going to trample Romanowski like a rabid buffalo.

My predictions: Bucs over Raiders, 30-17.
Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Gannon, and Romanowski all announce retirement from their hospital beds.

Last time Rice went up against the Bucs he was taken out pretty fast, it'll probably happen a second time too.

Regardless of what the sports analysts say, this is a game of offense. Gannon can move the ball down the field, Johnson (you pick) can't. Alstott will get some crucial yards, but Garner will screen the linebackers to death. Johnson's long ball can't handle the Woodson's while Gannons long ball can more than handle Lynch and Co. Raiders win this.

The Bucs need to beware the raiders' secret weapon that is......Janikowski.

They're going to update his position to full back and noone will be able to stop him. ^^

Actually, I think it'll be a pretty good game.

Why do those brain-dead football announcers pronounce his name Sim-ee-on Rice? Sounds an awful lot like sim-ee-an.
Should it not be probounced Sime-on?

Didn't Howard Cosell get lambasted for referring to Alvin Garrett as a 'little monkey'?

I bet those asshat commentators on Fox don't even know what a simian is. I bet Mr Rice doesn't even know.

This game may be dominated by offense most of the time - but the buccs are nothing to scoff at. If S. Rice and Sapp are at the top of their game, this won't be a contest and Gannon will be picking his teeth up off the field.
If they aren't... well... the buccs r screwed.

It won't even be a challenge for the Raiders imo. The Riaders are going to kill em.

Nah, it's actually pronounced Sim-ee-on. Has been since he played for Illinois in college and was a hopeful for the first defensive player to win the Heisman. Simon != Simeon.

I think the Bucs D will keep the Raiders down. The only teams the Bucs lose to are teams that play a power game against them and physically dominate them. The Titans would have beaten the Bucs....but I think the Bucs will disrupt the timing of the Raidahs and win it.

(I am also seeing an injury to Brad Johnson looming and that Shawn king will come in to win this game....but then I have killed a few million too many brain cells)

The only problem w/ this is Gruden has that worthless stiff Rob Johnson as the #2 QB. To get to the QB goodness that is S. King, we'd have to go through at least one quarter of Rob running around like a chicken w/ it's head cut off. Against the Raiders, that would be... bad :(

I like this matchup and expect it to be a pretty high scoring game. I give the edge to Oakland simply based on quarterbacks. Now the unwritten law of superbowl champs is a good defense wins superbowls, and Tampa's D is unmistakingly the best in football.

Problem here is twofold for Tampa, The combination of Gannon and Garner. With receivers like Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, both wanting this game more then ever, and Garner running and screen catching with the savy of Gannon who knows the mechanics of football better then any quarterback alive will be a tad too much for Tampa to overcome.

Prediction:

Oakland 31 Tampa Bay 17

Hahaha, everyone made the bucs out to get their asses pounded into the grounds by the eagles and look what happened? If they stay on fire like they've been the last 2 weeks the Raiders have no chance in hell, I don't give a damn how good their offence is.

Hehheh, the only reason I thought the Eagles were gonna win is because I get Rob and Brad Johnson mixed up. For some reason I thought Rob Johnson was the starting QB.

Other than a few teams, I dont follow the NFL very closely.

Typically in the Superbowl, when a good offense meets a good defense, the defense wins.

I think the Raiders are going to be stunned at how fast and how hard the Bucs D hits. While the Raiders do have a lot of vets, it is also late in the season and they have a lot of games under their belt. No two week break to heal up and rest up. Look for the Bucs to bulldoze the ball late in the game and the Raiders to run out of gas. Gannon will be watching from the sidelines unless the Raiders get a big lead and the Bucs are forced to play catch up.

The Titans gave the Raiders a good game, but you figure the Titans played their game of the year as they and the Steelers just pounded the crap out of each other the previous week.

The other factor to consider here is the Gruden factor. He is the last coach the Raiders want to see on the other sideline from the standpoint of how well he knows them. He had a damm good game plan against Philly and you know he is going to reach in his bag of tricks for something special against the Raiders.

Final point is consider that the crowd/atmosphere in San Diego will be pro Bucs if anything. You are looking at a divisional rival come to town to play in your stadium for the Superbowl.

Big thing is I just hope it is a good game. :)

It is bound to be a good game. Bucs D > Raiders O. The thing to watch is what happens in the trenches. The Raiders have to best offensive line in football. Miami blue-printed how to beat the Raiders and you can be sure that Gruden and the Buc's D is looking at that tape. Bucs have this one.

Oakland is a terrible football team. Reminiscent of the Miami teams with Dan Marino that scored a million points during the regular season and the playoffs and got massacred every Super Bowl they went to.

My prediction - Masteen actually picks a winner for the first time this year. Buccaneers 38, Oakland 13.

I think that people are putting too much stock in TB's ability to score. I believe the Bucs will win, but they are not going to put 30+ points on the board. The over/under is 43.5, if I were a betting man I'd probably play the under. I like the Bucs on the money line too. Those are Sylvus' locks of the week, play at your own risk though. =)

The day the Bucs put up that many points against a team in the SB is the day hell freezes over.

In the "Game before the Game" event where players from each team play the Madden game, the Buccs won. The sad part is that in the last 7 years of doing this, the team that won this won the actual Super Bowl. Time to put a stop to that trend.

34-3 right now... getting mighty frigid. I would estimate temperatures in hell are rapidly approaching 32F.

Yep, looks like I was dead wrong. I gave the raiders too much credit.

Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Dan Fouts, Rich Gannon, who am I missing?

Hell just froze over then.

Can't wait to read the negative press in the L.A. area after this one. Fair weather fans = California fans.

This officiating crew sucks ass.

Clearly the raider receiver was pushed out. Lame call. That pass interference call was shit too - although woodson clearly held the receiver.

Anyway, I guess I gave the raiders too little credit after all. hope Gruden goes for the score here with 6:00 left.

29 for 44 and 5 TD's is a great day for a quarterback in the Super Bowl. Too bad 5 of those completions and 3 of those TD's went to Tampa Bay defensive backs.

I have heard many people say this since that call last night, but it was a good call. I can't remember the exact yardlines they were on, but the play was blown dead due to forward progress being stopped. He was pushed out of bounds, but it was like 2 yards behind his forward progress, so the correct call in that situation is to spot the ball at the point 2 yards ahead of where he went out of bounds and to keep the clock running.

When you have to point to the officiating, it means you lost. Teams that win will win regardless.
