The Oscars
Question: What is considered an Oscar year? You know, like when you speak of a Fiscal year it is October-September. I am curious because I can't understand why movies that are released in January are even considered for this years Oscar. Can someone clear that up for me.

I guess those January (even February?) releases that seem to creep in at the last minute must have really been released in a limited fashion prior to the new year. /shrug[/url]* December 2, 2002: Deadline for receipt of official screen credit forms to qualify feature films for award consideration.
* December 31, 2002: Awards year ends at midnight.
* January 10, 2003: Nominations ballots mailed.
* January 29, 2003: Nominations polls close 5 p.m. PST.
* February 11, 2003: All nominations announced at 5:30 a.m. PST, Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
* February 25, 2003: Final ballots mailed.
* March 1, 2003: Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation, 6 p.m. PST, Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
* March 10, 2003: Nominees Luncheon, Beverly Hilton Hotel.
* March 18, 2003: Final polls close 5 p.m. PST.
* March 23, 2003: 75th Annual Academy Awards Presentation from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland™ will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:30 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour arrivals program preceding the presentation ceremony
