Sinking Sands

Post by Ashur »

Is there a difference between the three Courts or are they pretty much the same? I just started to work up my Court of Blades faction so I could do stuff w/ Canelek's Swashbuckler, but I'd hate to get it up there and find out that I really wanted the Coin or Truth or whatever.

I think there are some minor differences, but I have heard that getting the max in all three (not at once) has some other kind of reward. I went with Coin for reasons similar to you going Blade. Plus, coins are easier to spend!

I have been doing the quests with one of miir's 50 characters the past few nights, and I went coin. I think he went truth maybe, and was not KOS to any faction until some point last night. However, you can use the faction coins you get off certain mobs to raise your faction up with the others as well, I have no idea how long that takes, but I know it's a possibility. However bad it is, I'm sure it can't be as bad as faction farming in eq1 :)

I hadn't done any Court faction quests up until one point last night.
I usually start off with Coin (which I did with Effi).

You can change your court faction in a few hours depending on how many tokens you've farmed from the Grifter quests or from guard killing.

Should be fun going through the Peacock Club line as a mystic/dirge duo and doing all the different court quests.

I really don't know any difference either--guards seem to have short attention spans so are easily outrun (except for that named epic mob + pet near Truth(?) area.

As far as faction tokens, you can do the repeatable Tears Grifter quests where you kill shit in instanced house over and over and have your choice of faction token reward. I's like to know the faction values as well!

Yeah it should be fun! I looked for those damned items for damsel in distress for about 45 minutes - 1 hour after you got off to no avail. I am not sure where I didn't look, lol - I checked the spots map updater had them marked at and they weren't there either.

They can spawn in multiple spots.... around the Market, on the rooftops that I showed you and around the zone-in area.
There's another spot as well but I can't recall where.
I'm sure if you google it, you can find out the exact locations.

BTW, You can open a browser window in game... /browser

Have you found any benefit to these factions yet, Ash? I have a bunch of coins from the Tears Grifter repeatables...I try to do one every time I visit, although I have been in lfay more recently (stuck in Peacock line and Pillars of Flame is still a touch too high).

I should be on tonight, although I am in the process of packing.

When your faction is high enough, you can enter house of the court where you are offered additional quests have access to a bank and broker and advanced tradeskill recipe vendors.

There's some pretty cool content.

Don't you get the quest for Call of Ro through those houses too? That saved me a lot of travel time through being able to use the broker/bank/faction/merchant stuff rather than going back to Qeynos to do all of those things in multiple zones rather than within 20 feet of each other. I can't remember where/when I got the quest to say whether or not it was in there.

So Call of Ro works in conjunction with existing <Call of xxx> or does it replace it? That would be pretty sweet.

I'm guessing that's the "becoming a resident of ro" quest, I'm not sure where/how you get it though.

I think that was the quest. I remember having to do a lot of running around, but it was VERY worth it.

Yep, Canelek, I figured that way we can help each other with guard killing and the heroic quests in the court.
You can not actually betray to Maj'Dul but you can live there, if you like. You have to surrender your house in Qeynos, Freeport, Kelethin, or Neriak. You also have to have access to a Court so that you can buy a Maj'Dul Residency License. The license is required to purchase a home there. Completing Becoming a Resident of Ro will earn you an extra ability, Call of Ro. You do not have to live there to get Call of Ro, but it is a good idea to have it if you intend to live there.

1. Do the quests in one of the Faction Quests series of the Sinking Sands Timeline to gain faction with one of the 3 Courts.
2. Continue with Faction Quests in the Maj'Dul Timeline until you have sufficient faction to gain entrance to a Court.
3. Complete your residency by completing both or either of the following steps:
* The quest Becoming a Resident of Ro will earn you the Call of Ro ability.
* You must purchase a Maj'Dul Residency License in your Court if you wish to buy a house in Maj'Dul.
Yeah, a LOT of running around all over Maj'Dul and Sinking Sands to complete.

P.S. Herding beetles... lol

on Take 4? (10 carapaces?)

The damn skittish scarabs tend to congregate over by the f-ing 50^^^ sand giants in the north. At least they were last night.

I think the last part is 25 skittish scarabs. It was easy for me since I can invis...only the ^^^ spiders can see through invis in that area. It was still tedious and annoying thogh by the time you get to that part! :D Try to get 2 or 3 at once (if they are bunched up). Sometimes you can get the double or triple play....just be wary of the aggro range if they decide to fly deeper in.

Yeah, those damn Dune Spiderlings are the bane of my existence in that area due to their size and aggro range. They're easy enough to kill, but by then the damn scarab has flown off to Retard Land. I just try to catch one or two when I see them by themselves while I'm doing other quests in that area.

By completing the end quest for each court, you gain access to a special instance. Each special instance drops a part of a medallion. Once you have all 3, you gain access to Of Fate and Destiny.

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/The_Courts_of ... nd_Destiny

The end of the quest gives you an 80K boost of faction with all 3 courts. If you plan it right, you can end up max ally with all 3. I have done this with Vaemas, but didn't do it until 70. The final step in the quest is tough, even with a good group.
