Dethklok - Metalocalypse Band

Here is the Wiki on Metalocalypse, for those that do not know anything about the show.

I have got to say that this album (The Dethalbum), which is practially parody, is better than the majority of the music that it is suppossed to be poking fun at. It's heavy/Deth metal, but the lyrics and riffs are really damn good. It reminds me of old Metallica, circa Master of Puppets era. Everything they play is complex, with some over the top epic songs thrown in there. So, it's kind of silly, but it's also just damn good heavy metal. It's tough to remember this is from a cartoon made to parody heavy metal bands.

I don't mind the song of theirs that is on Guitar hero (2 I think).

I'd say it's damn good music in its own right, parody or not. Yeah, the vocals are death metal, but it's different from most death metal bands. The lyrics are easily discerned (and they're usually awesome). Shit, the first 1:30 of Go Into the Water is one of the best song intros ever.

I've had this album on repeat all weekend at work, it's awesome and I totally agree with you. The music is great, and the vocals are humorous, which I find to be way better than the standard death metal fare. Highly recommended if you like the music in death metal, but not the vocals. Which is usually the case for me.

Second album is due out some time this year. Brendan Small said it will make the first release sound like a love soacked pop album! You can hear the tracks if you're watching the second season of the show.

His cartoons (Home Movies, Metalocalypse) are great too. This guy has talent in spades!
For some reason, I've been playing the shit out of the first album lately. It's got some great bass and riffs. It's a little scary to play at really loud levels though. People think I'm worshipping the devil.
