I have recently started listening to the 80's Red Hot Chili Peppers stuff. Though I still have a hard on for Frusciante(and he has some stuff in this era, see "Mothers Milk"), all of it is very good.

I grew up in los angeles listening to KROQ so my taste was more new wave/altenative
