"It's clear they have violated the bans of the United Nations in terms of imports," Blix said.
U.S. officials reacted positively to Blix's comments.
Yep, Bush is showing his true colors now. Now nothing will stop him from going to war. Brace yourselves.

interesting story coming out of a
time articleabout Saudi and other arab governments pressing for a military coup in Iraq.
that would be ideal if that could somehow come to pass. no government that the US installs will be safe without our military to back it up.

LOL. Some really old dood at work here yells that when he walks in the bathroom on his way to take a shit. I find it funny. I wander if dubya says the same thing...

General Hussam Mohammad Amin, head of the Iraqi National Monitoring Directorate "These are 122mm rockets with an empty warhead. There are no chemical or biological agents or weapons of mass destruction or linked to weapons of mass destruction,"
"These rockets are expired...they were in closed wooden boxes...that we had forgotten about"
"Rockets of 122mm caliber are normally fired from multi-barreled rocket launchers, or singly. They are generally regarded as tactical battlefield weapons"
U.N. spokesman Hiro Ueki did not expand on the significance of the find during an inspection of the Ukhaider Ammunition Storage Area, which lies 75 miles south of Baghdad
Anyone else find it ironic that they found ammuntion in an ammunition storage area?
Here's a picture of a typical 122mm launcher.

Well, you wouldn't find these things full of chemical. They aren't stored that way. It's dangerous and the munition deteriorates very quickly.
On the other hand, we know he has had chemical munitions in the past. Until they locate a payload for these, I am underwhelemed by the discovery.

ROFL!
"These rockets are expired...they were in closed wooden boxes...that we had forgotten about"
General Hussam Mohammad Amin later added, "...and we were just holding them for a friend..."

would this be the rockets that iraq was claiming are in the disclosure documents? the ones the US are admitting all ready are "not the smoking gun"?
Net is on the blink here and i can't follow the link ><

Various quotes:
"This discovery is interesting and obviously the warheads have to be destroyed... But it's not something that's so important because we're talking about empty warheads,"
"Weapons experts said the 122mm rocket casings found in ammunition bunkers were from a multiple-barreled rocket launcher system, a battlefield artillery weapon that could not be considered a weapon of mass destruction."
"It would make no sense to hide them in a place...where the inspectors are sure to look. For once the Iraqis are probably telling the truth"
Interesting turn from how CNN was reporting it yesterday.

A couple small points of interest...
An MSNBC
report stating the found warheads were not in the disclosure report. This reinforces Bush with going to war.
Then, an Iraqi
news site that, of course, puts their own spin on things. I haven't had a chance to go through the whole site, but what I saw was interesting.
*edit* It also doesn't help when Saddam makes challenges like this:
a speech earlier Friday by Saddam Hussein in which the Iraqi leader warned that any attempt to conquer his nation would end in failure.
That has to get the good ole boy Dubya all riled up.

The USA better bomb that website!
An MSNBC report stating the found warheads were not in the disclosure report
Funny how the term 'warhead' is thrown around.
When americans hear the term 'warhead', the first thing that comes to mind is 'nuclear warhead' . The media has made the word 'warhead' , synonymous with weapons of mass destruction.
The found weapons are essentially 5 foot long rockets with no fuel and no payload. The particular missles that were found are incapable of carrying any sort of high yield warhead and have a maximum range of under 10 km. They are suspected of being 10-15 years old.

yeah i agree with you regarding the use of the term 'warhead'
depending on the use of the term, the news media is not using it incorrectly.
technically it only means the portion of a missile which carries the weapon payload.
i agree with you though, the term warhead conjures up the image of a weapon of mass destruction, which these weapons are really not.

Keep reading Jax.
Phrases like "Suicide, man the walls of Bagdad and die fighting" are sure to make your enemies cower in fear.
Much ado about nothing as far as these particular rockets go. The only point of interest is that the Iraqis did not disclose they had them, which is a technical violation of the UN agreement. Other than that.....

I try and look at this as an outsider too see if there is any truth in it. You have to take any news story about this with a grain or two of salt because there is so much spin on the stories. I browsed the Iraqi site a bit more and they do the same thing, except from that site their spin seems a little childish and see-through. I think it just doesn't translate very well.
Miir is absolutely right. If they had used the term "Giant sized pixi-stick tube" instead of "warhead", it wouldn't evoke such images in the American public, thus swaying the American public to back this war.
Much ado about nothing as far as these particular rockets go.
I agree Fall. This find would be the weakest reason for Dubya to start the war with Iraq. It's almost a non-issues besides the fact the US claims it was not on the disclosure form. I would hope that when (yes, we will go to war) we go to war it would have more concrete reasons to it.

I would like to send a message to the government of the United States, the United Nations security council, and any other interested parties.
Put a fucking bullet in his head and be done with it. We all agree Saddam needs to go, but most of us are totally sick of you pansy-assing around with the problem. Furthermore, it's a waste of money and precious lives to invade when there is only really one person we are after.
I will accept the option of war, but only if you can explain why in the hell you haven't assasinated this man.
Thanks for your time.

We just had a thread on that.
There are plenty of loopholes to it. Problem is, it's politically unsound.

Sung to the tune of: "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands"
If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi,
And your alibi is shoddy,
And your tastes remain quite gaudy,
Bomb Iraq.
If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think that SUVs,
Are the best thing since sliced cheese,
And your father you must please,
Bomb Iraq.
If the globe is quickly warming, bomb Iraq.
If the poor will soon be storming, bomb Iraq.
We assert that might makes right,
Burning oil is a delight,
For the empire we will fight,
Bomb Iraq.
If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think that someone's dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.
If corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.
Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might now knows no borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We'll call it treason,
It's the "make war not love" season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

I do not blindly follow shit. See my last posts regarding the Iraq shit for my solution. Whether the world can handle a little dirty work and kill 10 people to prevent thousands from dying remains to be seen. Bleeding heart liberals such as yourself are the reason so many have to die when an assassination would prevent it.

I am gonna make this short cause I am rushing out the door, but I will put it to you like this: Every time I turn on the tv or pick up a newspaper and see these fucking delusional liberal idealist motherfuckers talking about find a peaceful solution I come closer to going to one of their rallies and turning into one of those mass murderers that you see documentaries written about.
If we lived in a perfect world full of perfect people we could find a perfect solution where saddam and dubya could run in a field full of wild flowers and smoke pot and make love to each other. But I have news for you delusional bastards - THIS IS PLANET FUCKING EARTH and things have to be taken to drastic measures sometimes. Saddam promised he was gonna chill out on the psycho shit before - and if he does it again , are people gonna believe him? Are there really people out there that are that out of touch with reality ? He is a psycho and is always going to be one, the only way anyone is going to stop him is to KILL him. There are no two ways about it - you can sit there all day and think to yourself that there is a solution, and that maybe we can give him another chance - well ill tell you this, if myself or anyone I know is harmed because we let this sick bastard off the hook again, some liberal hippy bastards are gonna pay dearly for that shit.
Ok so it didnt end up short and now im late - but point is, saddam needs to die and your only kidding yourself if you think there is an alternative solution.
