Anyone have a good site to look at as far as prices go?
Or a make/model you could recommend for the following:
I'm interested in getting an after-market receiver for my car. I'd like to get one that has a single CD at the very least, an audio input for an ipod (or something similarly easy, I don't like the adapters broadcast over fm) and most importantly satellite radio.
No idea what kind of prices that gets into, or if you have to look at different models based on what will fit in your car. I've recently resigned myself to keeping the car I have for a while, and I'm interested in expanding my options for listening to music/comedy/etc. while driving.

Re: Car Audio Components
Have you tried Crutchfield yet? They also carry kits to fit head units into most vehicles.

Re: Car Audio Components
post the make/model/year of your vehicle.. that can affect your choices and other necessary hardware (the install kit, etc)
i was recently considering replacing the stock deck in my truck, until i found out the harness was $120 because of some bullshit GM design (where the cars chimer goes through the speakers)

It's a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. I think. Maybe a 2005. But I'm pretty sure it's a 2004.

Re: Car Audio Components
Crutchfield is pretty cool, unfortunately i'm having trouble finding something with all the features that I want, if such a thing is even made.
What brands should one consider or avoid?
I see that a lot of them now have actual connections to an ipod rather than just an aux-in, which would be nice. If I could find one that is a satellite radio receiver and has the ipod connection (hopefully with a cd too) I think that'd be exactly what I'm looking for.
Anyone have any experience with a similar product?
Are they pretty easy to install yourself? I'm not planning on changing any speakers or adding an additional amp or woofer or anything.

Re: Car Audio Components
How is Valor, as a brand? Anyone ever heard of them?
I haven't, but this unit looks to have pretty much everything I was looking for in a receiver. I don't want to pull the trigger if the brand is garbage though.

I have never heard of them, but I also have never shopped the in-dash DVD units before.
