Dwight Schrute gets a 'Second Life,' still needs a first one

On Thursday night's episode of The Office on NBC, dweeby Dwight Schrute (played by Rainn Wilson) revealed himself to be a Second Life addict--something that doesn't require any suspension of disbelief.

The Second Life banter began when Dwight's notably less nerdy co-worker, Jim (played by John Krasinski), asked Dwight if he was "playing that game again."

"Second Life is not a game," Dwight replied authoritatively. "It is a multi-user virtual environment. It doesn't have points or scores; it doesn't have winners or losers."

With all the deadpan wit that's made The Office the hit that it is, Jim fixed his glance on Dwight and commented, "Oh, it has losers."

Dwight, who said that his "life is so great that (he) literally wanted a second one," is known as Dwight Shelford in-world. Just in case you see him flying around.

Glad I started watching The Office a week or so ago. (halfway through season two) Very entertaining! I watch the episodes late at night and usually fall asleep at some point. I had a dream I was in the Office with all of the characters the other night, but I was Jim, not Dwight!

Don't forget that Dwight created a second life within Second Life. And aptly called it Second Second Life.

I just started watching it since I moved about 3 weeks ago because my new roommate loves the show. We TiVo all the new episodes. Anyway, Dwight used to be my favorite character, especially after Jim and Pam went to his farm. But now I just love Andy. "Ohhhhhhhhhhh Deeeeeeee"

Second Life has been all over prime time lately. I watched an episode of Criminal Minds (I think) with it featured as well as an episode of SVU.

Second Life has been all over NBC is what it is. They're butt buddies.

I know not of inter gaming politics between the two parties. I think it looks like a mildly retarded game and as such have not shown the least bit of interest in it.

If you get a chance, I highly recommend checking out the first two (three?) seasons, and especially the UK version of the show. All are really entertaining.

Yeah season three was my favorite. I've downloaded all of them, and I watch season 4 off of NBCs website since I usually work thursday nights. You have commercials every 15 minutes, but it's free and high quality streaming (suprisingly).

Tried watching the British version, but I really couldn't get into it at all.

I like how the show has progressed, but I always enjoyed the Temp's character (B.J. Novak), and now he's turned into a huge asshole. I like how they've added more lines to the off-characters of the show (Creed, Stanley, Angera, etc.), and kind of derived from the Michael / Pam / Jim / Dwight factor of the show. Those four are still the main focus, but there's more involvement from the other characters that you didn't see in seasons one and two really.

Being only midway through season 2, I'm a little worried about how Pam and Jim's relationship will affect things in later seasons and episodes.

I didn't like the UK version, it was far too close to reality for comfort. However, Ricky's next show, Extras was hilarious.

The British version is awesome, but I love the American version as well. I can relate to the characters more. Extras is also fucking funny, I hope they get to do another season of it.
