Patched up to log in my characters to make sure my names would be 'saved' after the merges....
12 seconds for my first crash to desktop.

I just got an email about another server merger...down to four I think. I didn't notice if there was another patch included with that though

There hasn't been a server merge yet.

I've gotten back into EQ2 again and the level of polish on EQ2 simply puts Vanguard to shame...
I managed to log in and not crash for about 45 minutes. Fiddled with some of the detail settings and noticed much better performance.... but it still runs pretty poorly compared to EQ2. It doesn't even look that much better.
It was sad to see the deserted outposts, chunks (zones) with only 2-3 players and deserted cities.

I made a comment in guildchat about the game still being too buggy for me to consider coming back to play. Some tool in guildchat said 'I never see any bugs anymore'... then I asked him why I was automatically flagged LFG when I logged in... along with every other person on /who. Then I fell into a rock and logged off.

Maybe people wont be so quick to jump on the next Brad project and claim it will be greater than sliced bread.

Personally, I didn't jump on it because it was a 'Brad project'.
I did beta and it was terrible.. to the point of being unplayable for me.
At release it was still really fucking buggy but it was absolutely playable.

At it's core, it's a very deep and complex game. It was also quite fun.
For a few months the fun I was having overshadowed the fact that it was a buggy, unfinished mess.
Right now, I'm finding more fun in a polished. stable and 'finished' game.

If you have enough patience, Vanguard can be a very fun and rewarding game.

Game Update #2 brought a lot of awesome fixes and new stuff and really showed us that SoE is working hard to make changes.

Unfortunately they somehow brought the CTD shit back and people are crashing every few hours again. Its annoying, but should get a fix not long after the merges take palce I'd imagine. The benefit of what GU2 is doing for the game outweighs this temporary setback imo, and the raiding that'll go in with Gu3 sounds pretty awesome from what I've seen/heard.

Not giving up on this one yet. It definitely isn't where it needs to be though.

Also, merges start tonight at 12:01am PST.

I don't know who Brad is but Mr. Bacon ruined this game.
