ISO/CUE files, etc

So I am currently in the process of trying to get a good copy of the Bourne Ultimatum to burn, but im frustrated. To start, I am NOT asking for someone to tell me how, just looking to vent and maybe get some info.

When people go to the theatre and record a video, then put it online. Why exactly is it that some of them put the movie into two nice video files that I can drag into nero and burn with like three mouse clicks. Then other people (majority) have these different CUE files or a million others, and you have to do like 20 different things just to get it to burn to dvd.

Now before miir and aslanna start up on me - I know, you've said it before and I KNOW what you are going to say :) My thoughts were just that these people that have the other file formats that require the extra steps - isn't it more work for them to get the file into those formats? Or am I totally off base, I have never had a video camera and I have never made a torrent file (or really messed with re-encoding something at all) , so it's very possible I have no idea what I'm talking about - but that is why I'm asking!

You should be able to run Daemon Tools to pose as a device to run the Bin/Cue files locally. Pretty simple that way. It will add a virtual drive that you can see under 'my computer' from there, you can mount the bin/cue and play it as if it were a DVD or whatnot.

Aquire these tools and you'll never have problems:

UltraISO
PowerISO
MagicISO

You've already got Nero.

I'll give that a shot siji, last time I tried to dl powerISO I had issues with getting the keygen it came with to actually work so I gave up.

And aslanna, I was referring to miir (and I thought you, though I could be wrong) always fighting the evil illegal downloaders :)

when you get bin&cue or iso files, it's usually a VCD/SVCD/DVD image... fyi the .bin file is the disk image, and the .cue is a text table of contents that tells the software what partitions and where the image is.

imho, the differences in formats is the release groups preference... there are lots of groups out there that release these movies, and they all have their own way of doing things.

i personally do not often burn a movie to watch elsewhere, i watch everything on the pc... i prefer when it's just 1 file, or a folder structure from a dvd/hddvd/bluray disk.

speaking of ISO files, how do i burn my ISO to a DVD when the ISO file is larger in size than the DVD?

Buy a larger DVD.

That is, if they are larger than 4.5GB then you need a Dual Layer DVD. And a burner that supports it.

Or mount the ISO w/ Daemon Tools and rip it again with DVDShrink.

Assuming it's a movie. Not all ISOs are!

yep its the oingo boingo farewell concert dvd from 1995. They managed to put it on one dvd in 1995 so I don't know how they did it. I'm sure there must be some way without buying an entire dual layer dvd setup? I think the movie is like 300mb or so more than the 4.7 dvd's i have.

You'll have to use DVD Shrink. It takes whatever size DVD you provide and shrinks it to fit on a 4.7 DVD. The image quality is reduced accordingly so you can save image quality by removing the extras, foreign langquages, sub titles, etc.
