If you had started playing EQ 3 years ago and bought all expansions and did a lot of exp camps and item camps and joined a high end guild, you could sell your character for around $1000 US and have profited about $520 with no taxes reported.

This is not including any items you ebayed along the way.

i think that comes out to a net return of $0.0025 per hour, so all in all great investment

Hell back 2 years ago CoF's were selling for 1000 to 1500 dollars US anytime they appeared. Not to mention tons of items which are now 500 pp or less in game were bringing 500 dollars US ie: Mithrul 2 handed sword off King in Lower Guk.

Accounts were selling up to 2500 dollars, but were strippable enough to even make that outrageous figure well worth it. Now unfortunately the vast majority of items are no drop in the hi end so those good ol days are gone now. Occaisionally accounts will break 1000 now and have strippable items making it close to break even.

Most valuable items now are Fungi tunics, Boots of Flowing Slime, RBB, CoF, Blade of Carnage, Swiftblade of Zek, Mithrul helm and Boots, Amulet of Necropotence, Horn of Hsagra, Fleshgrinder , all going for somewhere between 200 and 750 dollars depending on which item and on which server.

Best way to make money in game today is to be a plat feen. Convert your items to plat and sell for 5 dollars a thousand pp. Horn of Hsagra =150k pp 5 x 150 = 750.00 etc etc etc just takes patience.....) Prime example here I sold a Sceptor of Destruction I got in game before moving my character to here from another server for 500,000 pp. you do the math. 0 cost involved except for time.
