Well, I figured this new trailer was a good place to start a new thread for those that are interested in this movie. I gotta admit that the trailer looks surprisingly good to me.

It will be an entertaining popcorn flick to see with a bunch of friends.

The quality of the casting, directing, & writing are all questionable.

I'm more excited for this than any other Michael Bay flick, but that isn't saying a lot. If anything it will atleast be fun in a crowd-pleasing, 'Snakes-On-A-Plane' kind of way.

Hittable, glasses or no glasses.

EDIT: Would have been nice if Samuel L Jackson with an eyepatch was in Transformers as Nick Fury as well as Hasselhoff, but we do have John Turturro! (who i never would have imagined would be in a Transformers-movie).

Supposedly this film's first MPAA rating was R for intensity...

This movie's starting to look good:

Image
As most of you will remember, yesterday I put up a story about how the MPAA initially slapped the new Transformers movie with an "R" rating, until Spielberg did some weight throwing and got it knocked down to a PG13. This is terrific news for everyone. Since I never thought Transformers would have too much swearing, or any nudity or sex... the only option left for why the MPAA would want to slap an "R" on it would be for action and intensity.

Understandably, some people thought the story was fake. I don't blame them at all. But according to SciFi.Com and Transformers star Shia LaBeouf, the story is 100% ture.

Shia LaBeouf, who stars in Michael Bay's upcoming Transformers movie, told SCI FI Wire that executive producer Steven Spielberg had to appeal a decision by the Motion Picture Association of America to give the film a dreaded R rating. "Spielberg fought back and got the PG-13," LaBeouf said in an interview. "It's just because of the intensity.

"We went to get our MPAA rating, and this movie is for the masses, and we got an R rating because of the tension," LaBeouf said. He added: "Not because of the curse words or nudity, but for sheer intensity. It's aneurysm-inducing."

The guy who voiced Optimus Prime on the cartoon is also doing his voice in the movie. The guy who voiced Megatron was beat out by Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith, V) for the movie role of Megatron, but apparently he'll still be doing one of the other robots.

Gonna be awful, but probably entertaining, so I'll be going with freinds to watch the large explosions and embarassing overuse of CGI. :)

Early review of Transformers:

No Hugo Weaving love!
ON THE GOOD SIDE

- The film is visually INCREDIBLE to look at. The character designs are PERFECT. You can forgive someone who forgets they're watching a movie instead of a moving piece of cgi on screen. These robots look so damned real. It's that good looking.

- The action is every bit as intense and chest pounding as you could hope for

- The characters know their role. They are just decoration. This is the ROBOT's Movie. Its all about the Transformers.

ON THE BAD SIDE

- Megatron sounds HORRIBLE. It is the worst voice casting EVER. Hugo Weaving is an awesome guy, but this just wasn't a good fit.

- I hope you like Megatron and Optimus Prime. We don't see much of the other Transformers AT ALL. They are mostly there for filler and some real eyecandy, but there is about 10 minutes of screen time for ALL of them. The rest is just Prime and Megatron.

- There is a pointless plot hook that gets completely overlooked before the end of the movie. Optimus Prime mentions that he came to earth to hide as he has a disease and is dying. This seems to go unmentioned for the remainder of the film.

OVERALL

The movie is a lot of INCREDIBLE action, but no story at all. This was the biggest letdown of my entire movie viewing life. This movie had SO much potential, and visually it exceeds even that. But even though we were expecting a simple plot and lots of action we got too much of an extreme here. The action was incredible, the visuals are better than anything I have ever seen, but the plot and story are the worst I have ever seen.

Overall I give Transformers a 5 out of 10 and on a scale of No, Go, or Routh I sadly give it a No (unless you just want to see the animation)

I really don't expect much. Hell, more of the trailer is all I need. They'll get my 10 bucks. If it's better than the cartoon, I'll be surprised.

It will give what is advertised. Giant fucking robots that turn into cars, planes, and helicopters. If the viewer wants more than that, they are just being selfish!

It's going to be a Micheal Bay orgasam on screen. All action and everything else sucking!

As much as I have a soft spot for some of the other Transformers, this movie could be renamed Optimus Prime and I would be happy to go see it.

p.s. I was very sad as a boy when Optimus died in the last film. :(

Latest screener reviews are in, and it's getting really good marks from the audiances. Screeners from 2 months ago were not impressed, although the movie was also a lot less polished than the ones they are showing now.

That is a bad-ass trailer, for sure. Even my wife watched it 2-3 times. Here's hoping it's going to be as fun as it looks!

LaBeouf, Fox, Duhamel, Gibson and Anderson were fans of the Transformers.[2] LaBeouf worked out five days a week for three months and gained 25 pounds of muscle to prepare for the role, but realized during shooting that his role required agility rather than strength. Fox gained 10 pounds of muscle during filming due to the physicality of the role.

There was a remake of Rear Window w/ Christopher Reeves. No idea why it was remade though!! =/

Remaking the Birds is sad since it was such a groundbreaking film. I figure Vertigo will be following at some point. :(

It was an entertaining movie!

here's my rating of theTransformers in a timeline of the movie:

beginning 5, 6, 6, Intro Megan Fox 10, 10 ,10, middle 7, 8, 7, 7, more Megan Fox 10, 10, 10, ending 8, 9, 8

Having no clue what the Transformers are and never having seen a Transformers cartoon, I was able to enjoy the movie.

The humor hit more than missed. Long movie: 244 minutes
[Show]
Megan Fox isn't that great of an actress and doesn't play a big role in the movie...kinda just there as a sidekick for sex humor...which is fine!

The initial action scenes are a little blurry...not showing full transformer shapes, etc but it gets better over the course of the movie. The movie suffers slightly from the camera views being too close during the action so it's hard to tell what's going on besides seeing lots of metal and explosions.

The movie is a little disjointed but I'm guessing people are watching it to see the transformers do their thing for the most part so the kinda weak plot and character development won't matter.

Does Optimus Prime die? I'm not saying!
Since I gave Die Hard 4 an 8.8, I'm going to give Transformers an 8 with a +.2 Megan Fox kicker for a total of 8.2

Good action summer flick. It has all the ingredients to be entertaining. Transformer fans will like it more.

Replace 10 years old with 6 and I'd agree with everything he said. I must admit that I was very very fucking skeptical about them making this movie and thought it'd bastardize every fucking thing I loved as kid. At the end of the movie I was so satisfied I just didn't say anything and smiled the whole way out, it's been a while since a movie entertained me that much.

This may also be because I really am a Transformers fanboy. By Transformers I mean the cartoon leading up to the first Movie and episodes slightly after, not the remakes and other stuff that came out a few years back.
