What a cutie-pie! I love fat little puppies!
Names are tough. I lean toward people names with my pets. To me she looks like a Dolly or a Ruby or a Lola, or a flower name like Daisy, Violet. Poppy. Something simple and retro, but girly. With that butchy little mug and gut (I love it!), she needs a cute little girl's name.

What a cute puppy! I tend to give my animals people names, so I would go with something like Natalie for her. I wish puppies weren't so much work... I'm waiting for my little boy to get old enough to pick up the poop before I get one

Oh, shes going to be beautiful. Will be a handful though, my puppy is only 5 months old and shes already did about $500 in damage. Shes a German Shephard\Husky mix though, so if the cat doesnt want to play and we are not here she gets bored and finds something to destroy. Bitter spray FTW.
As for a name, I like Holly or Sadie.

Kong toys are some of the only things she can't just chew right through so frustrating is good for her. She started her raw diet today and we'll switch to a BARF diet in another 4 months. She is really frickin awesome.

I would
strongly advise against the BARF diet. I did a lot of research when I got my dogs because I was going to move them to a raw food diet and found that the risk of BARF was not worth it. Many vets will bitch you out if you put your animal on it because the diet is well-known as being shit in the vet community.
There are lots of reasons why its a bad diet for dogs, mainly the damage bone shards can do to their digestive system and the fact that its missing supplemental nutrition needed for healthy development.
This article is probably the most comprehensive I could find in a couple minutes, but there is plenty of other info out there.
http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/barf-myth.html
If you want a HEALTHY raw foods diet, buy a copy of Dr. Pitcairn's Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. He provides recipes for raw food diets which involve supplements
in the right ratio for a dog. I did this for my first dog for almost a year but its time-consuming and I found that there are LOTS of holistic kibbles out there that are excellent choices.
If you are serious about giving your dog a healthy life, you'll do the research. Don't believe the BARF propaganda out there.

Most every BARF diet I read includes supplements in ratios for weight, kelp, alfalfa powder, fish oils and the like. I know quite a few dogs that follow the diet and have for years, pretty healthy pups.
Dr Pitcairns views are pretty solid imo but I also think soft bones are good for dogs for the calcium, I do understand his concerns regarding lead but I have not seen any cases of lead poisoning in dogs from bones. Actually the diet I plan on using falls somewhere between the traditional BARF diet and his diet using much more raw meat and fewer bones.
Steven Crane on the other hand is no one I have ever really heard of and his article is far from objective. Much more objective article here
http://www.workingdogs.com/vcbarf.htm which gives a bit of both sides. I seriously doubt from his tone Mr Crane would much care of Dr Pircairn either.

Adorable puppy! Freckles seems like a fitting name, although I don't know if that's the kind of thing that disappears on dogs as they grow. As for diet, unless your dog has a medical condition that requires a special food (my last dog had kidney problems, had a medicinal wet canned food), I can't recommend more strongly just getting a good, healthy dry dog food and free-feeding it. I've been amazed at how well it has worked with my dog. She's not possessive/territorial over the food dish at all, eats a little bit now and then when she feels like it (usually when someone else is in the kitchen having a meal), and she's completely healthy, ideal weight and size. After having to go through the process of measuring out wet dog food, adding medication to it, hiding pills in it... this is just the best

She was 48# at just a hair under 9 months, she won't get any taller really (19") but she will become more of a fatass bulldogge for sure! Guesstimating 75-80#.

Just curious, because I adopted my dog about a year and half ago and never had a clue what kind of dog she was. When we first adopted her, they said Dauschund mix, but she's so freaking tall that it just doesn't seem right. I don't know a lot about dogs, other than mine is awesome, but I figured maybe somebody on VV is a big dog person and might have any clue on what kind of dog she is. Or, maybe she's just some crazy, super mixed up Mutt.
I don't know if it helps or not, but some things that might point towards one breed or another is that she's got some crazy curly tail that reminds me of a Pug and she has webbed feet. Also has so much energy she can run forever, this also might be because she's a puppy and likes running in circles for some reason. She's about 33lbs and has been for the last couple of months.
I can resize the picture if necessary, it might be a little too large.

Looks to me like she has Chow in her.
Some retrievers have webbed feet, and they are common %'s in mutts.

I remember watching something about DNA breakdowns for "mutts," but I cannot remember where it was. This was something I found online that sounded similar:
The test, called the Wisdom Panel MX Mixed Breed Analysis, requires a blood sample and is done in a veterinarian's office. The results come back in two to three weeks. It's based on DNA samples from 3,200 dogs, covering 134 breeds. Expected to cost about $130, it's a product of Mars Veterinary, a subsidiary of food giant Mars Inc. (Visit
whatsmydog.com.)
It joins the Canine Heritage Breed Test, a do-it-yourself kit from MMI Genomics. Owners swab the inside of their dog's cheek, then mail it to the company. This test covers 38 breeds, costs $71.95 and takes four to six weeks. (Visit
metamorphixinc.com.)
