I`ll try to keep this question brief :\

I am trying to figuire out how to host games on different games such as Warcraft III ( among others ). I've looked into every guide that I could muster up online. I've tried every how-to that I've found. I -still- can NOT find the problem! My connection is ADSL with a ZyXEL router. I am fairly confident that I have crossed every t and dotted every i in the guides; so what is wrong? I believe that it has something to do with my NAT ( and my global/local IP address). Does anyone have a better guide that I, by chance, did not read and you could recommend?

find out what ports you need to unblock for the game you want to play and get a portchecker tool.. the easiest way is with DXDiag (i think) where you can set up a chat session over a specific TCP/IP port. Once you have that figured out, start fiddlefucking with your router settings (each router is massively different) until you are able to establish a connection over that specific port. When that is done, you should be able to host games and also connect to more people than you could previously.


If you have no luck whatsoever with anything, I'd suggest buying a Linksys router and giving it another shot. You can find a thousand times more support online for a Linksys than other router brands and they are much more reliable when it comes to port config
