I've had this problem with my computer for a while now and it doesn't really cause any noticeable problems but it is starting to bug me.

When I open up task manager a program called IEXPLORE.EXE is always running i can't close it no matter what i do, and it takes up 90-99 CPU and 240,000+ memory usage. There is also a second IEXPLORE.EXE running as well but it doesn't effect CPU and only 9,000 mem usage.

any tips on what this is or gettign rid of it would be great

Haven't looked too deeply but just typing iexplore.exe into google provided a lot of leads.

I have this issue to and it went away when I uninstalled one of the task bars I had (can't remember if it was Yahoo / google etc.... on my work computer and am at home now).

I was always able to CTR-ALT-DEL it before I figured that out however.

iexplore.exe is the executable for Internet Explorer...it's possible (probable?) that something you have installed (purposefully or malicious) is causing IE to be launched and eat up your memory and processor time. As Canoe suggested, (and assuming you've already checked for malicious software) check any taskbar software or other IE plugins you may have installed; failing that, you might consider reinstalling IE itself.
