It really is the greatest show. Pure hilarity, I couldn't wait to get back from commercials. My favorite is the girl who went in and picked 2 dresses, she's so classy!
On a side note, the local morning radio show had women calling in to complain about Joe Millionaire today. We've already heard from Kyoukan, what do you other women around here think about it? In my opinion, it should really only bother you if you are gold-digging trash.
/edit: feh, misspelled kyoukan, my apologies

Awwww crap.... I totally forgot that was today. I'm not usually one for this type of show but the idea behind it is hilarious. It gets an A+ from me.

Basically, a large group of women think they're in a Bachelor scenario, good looking guy and worth $50 million. They all think he's rich but he's just a contruction worker earning $19k a year. The fun part is when he gets to tell them.

Hehe, sounds cool. But surely the women arent ALL shallow....are they.....
are they?

The sad thing about this.and I am sure some of the complaints that Sylvus spoke of came from. this show does suggest that ALL women are shallow, out for the easy life. Of course its kinda tough to imagine a role reversal situation. I mean think about it HOT lookin babe would it really matter if she was rich or not? This show is implying that the woman is going to be PISSED because the handsome guy is actually broke. When in reality a lie is a lie I would be pissed because I was lied too The context of the lie would make no differance
Maybe just MAYBE, the ending of this show is not going to be what we all expect it to be =)

WHat I love about this is the guy seems like a dutlt, not the brightess bulb in the house. My favorite part was when he said something not remotely funny and all the girls laughed.

I think its SOOOOOOOOO funny that some dumb bitch is gonna say "Omg, I dont want him for his money - I want him for his great personality and hot bod" and marry him....Then divorce him the second she finds out he's not rich. Then she'll be humiliated in the public eye and her life will be ruined. DIE BITCH.

You know,
I find it amazing that NOW and every liberal group on the planet is not screaming their heads off. This show is more degrading to women than a copy of Playboy will ever be.
20 Whores (and yes chicks doing it for the money are whores and are lower than sluts who do it for fun) all of them are whores, all of them are flawed human beings, none of them are as good of people as even Kyoukan. Disclaimer: If it was 20 guys they would be whores too.
If the guy was not a near total dumbass he would mac on the shows hostess Alex Mccloud (who is a hottie and is not whoring) and ignore the rest of those dopey bitches.

Would have been funnier had they gotton some fat ugly dude to pass as the bachelor millionare. Then you could label the girls as even bigger gold diggers.
My friend is the producer, and here is what yall dont know. The last episode, after hes slept with 3 or 4 of the women and is ready to choose a mate, the girls all announce that they are all HIV Positive.
My name is SPARTy

Kylere, it is conservative groups who typically are anti-pornography. I believe the ACLU helped Larry Flint in his case against Jerry Falwell for instance.
regardless, i think it is a bit absurd to try to tie a show like this with flaws in any political ideology LOL.

No, I think it implies more that these particular 20 women are shallow. The reason I find it funny is that I'm anticipating such a strong dose of karma for some of the girls who are only chasing his (imaginary) bank account. If I were to actually believe that ALL women were that shallow, it would probably make me very sad. I'm not entirely positive, but it did seem like there were a few girls out of the 20 who didn't go all gaga when they heard he had $50M. Perhaps he'll find a quality woman.
Masekle wrote:This show is implying that the woman is going to be PISSED because the handsome guy is actually broke. When in reality a lie is a lie I would be pissed because I was lied too The context of the lie would make no differance
As far as that one is concerned, the whole Joe Millionaire premise is a bit different than a traditional lie, imo. He didn't just come up with this on his own, it's totally Fox's baby. It's a game and a contest. So I'm anticipating him finding the nice girl out of the bunch and them falling in love in spite of his lack of money and her laughing about the whole thing when he tells her. That and the greedy bitches getting their just desserts.
I'm also waiting to watch the sequel to this series, Jill Hermaphrodite.

actually the show doesnt suggest all women are shallow.
the premise of the show is whether or not money will matter when she finds out the truth.
we will find out if they are 'golddiggers' at the end, not the begining. most everybody regardless of sex would choose somebody worth $50 million over somebody worh $20k.
Now women dont like being lied to that much, so that may end up costing this guy. but that doesnt necessarily mean she is a money grubber either.
i mean who is going to 'fall in love' in this sort of environment anyway? nobody, that aspect of the whole setup is a farce.

It's just entertainment.
Rap videos are more degrading to women than Joe Millionaire.
Howard Stern is more degrading to.. well.. everybody than Joe Millionaire.
Christ, the white trash on those shows like Springer are more offensive and degrading than Joe Millionaire.
Mister Millionaire is even more of a moron than the women on the show.
It's all contrived.
These are not 'real' people, they are actors.
But who gives a shit?
It's one of the funniest and most entertaining things I've seen on television in a long time.

You're absolutely right, that's the appeal. Because you KNOW it's going to matter.
I don't find the show degrading to women. The women who go on these types of shows are an embarassment to our gender. Any girl who would go on national TV to participate in a competition where the prize is to marry some jackass just because he has a fat wallet needs her head examined.
Fox humiliating them fills me with much happy sunshine and

.

I don't find it degrading to women at all. I find it degrading to the 20 stupid morons that agreed to be on a TV show embarassing themselves for a chance at marrying a total stranger who is rich. I don't think that kind of shallowness is indicitive of even a majority of women, but it is certainly instinctual to desire a man capable of providing as much comfort as possible. You would have to be a pretty harsh misoginyst or a militant feminist to think Fox would be trying to make a statement that all women are gold digging sluts.
I also didn't think the guy was that bad. He certainly isn't my type, but I thought he was quite charismatic and not a total moron. It was pretty cute when he was explaining that it didn't really hit him about how deep he was getting into it until it actually started.
It really is good trashy TV.

I find it degrading to the human species that something this stupid can be labelled 'entertainment'.

Here's what I think will happen. I can't imagine they'd screw the "winner" that bad. I'm guessing that after any of these women decide to marry this poor guy, they will announce that they're giving the newlywed couple a million dollars or something.
Haven't watched the show but it sounds like the harshest reality TV show yet...did they deliberately lie and say he had 50 million or was it merely suggested that he does? If suggested, it's not as bad as flat out lying that he has 50 million.

So ...
Because they chose to go on the show, it is not degrading to women hmm
How is this any different than a woman who decides to be a Playmate of the Month?
Truth is, NOW should be up in arms, just like they should have been over their buddy fast Willy, but it is amazing how some political organizations overlook some things but not others, only by being consistant do they have any value, and NOW has undermined its legitimate moral authority by not chasing stuff like this down while with its other hand it smacks Playboy and Baywatch around.
(lemme clarify that I am pro-Playbuy but playing devils advocate here)

I would say that they made it out like he had 50 million, Winnow. They are in a castle in France and he has a butler and they gave him dancing/etiquitte lessons and had him ride in on a horse... Though I'm sure no wedding will actually happen before they find out that he's actually Joe Sixpack.

Local radio show here interviewed Joe Millionaire yesterday.
The ladies didn't know they were going to be "dating" a millionaire. So can't fault them as initially being money grubbing whores, but after watching it last night and hearing what some of them had to say after finding out he's "worth" $50 million you can say that about some of them.
Also, to add to the money grubbing whore idea he actually ends up with none of them. Then again, the winner probably felt betrayed once finding out she was lied to.

women fighting over men is just better television because both women and men are likely to watch.

I don't think Playboy and Baywatch are degrading to women, but that's just me.

It really isn't very different than a woman chosing to be playmate of the month. I guess it's subjective whether or not you find that degrading or demoralizing. I personally don't. If a woman choses to take off her clothes for money, more power to her - as long as she knows that there may be consequences. Same goes for the women chosing to be on this show. I'm sure they know that by being part of it, thousands of people will look down on them for being gold digging tramps but the possibility of a 50 million dollar reward justifies it for them. The only difference between this and other "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" shows is that this "millionaire" really isn't. How is that any more or less degrading?

I guess it's more degrading because Fox is tricking these bitches. When they find out he makes less money that your average high school dropout, we get to see who is a golddigging slut and who is just a slut
IMO, this show owns more than any show since STD... err, I mean Temptation Island!

Seriously though, I think the show is a nice change of pace.
It's refreshing to see a bunch of girls who are openly trying to scam a guy (for his money) get secretly scammed buy a guy (who just wants a girlfriend). The premise behind the show isn't a one way scam, it's a two way scam. The guy is just being more discreet about it than the women are.
It is also a well deserved slap in the face to the now well-accepted ideology that it's perfectly normal for a woman to want a man solely for his money.
Posted: January 7, 2003, 8:05 pm

I dont think the guy actually thinks he is going to get a woman from this. By showing his face on national TV as a scamming DO-ANYTHING-FOR- MONEY idiot, he better hope not every woman in the world had the TV on lastnite. Maybe the money offer in his peabrained menatality was worth more than his integrity.
Think about it would any woman looking for an honest relationship want to give Joe-no-go a call?
Wonder if he has figured that out yet? I bet his mom advised against it.

Damn I missed it.
This is a show I wanna see also. If you ever had more money then your circle of friends, you would know why this would be funny to watch.
Funny thing is like when you hang out, the guys are just guys, they don't give a shit about the money, but they like your toys. The chicks...you get a weird vibe from them.
I remember one time at work one of my employees was like hitting on me...because I was her boss and made more cash. Anyway against my better judgement we went out for some drinks (her boyfriend also). We got drunk kinda..we were drinking out of these fishbowls with plastic alligator squeeky toys...anyway she started to like give head to the alligator toy while staring at me a few times like when her boyfriend turned his back or went to the restroom. I'm not necessarily the best with women but I'm pretty sure that was a pass.
Anyway it got better when there was a newspaper article on my desk that pertained somewhat to my future financial status and she asked about the article and she got even more friendly.
Like 2 days later the topic of marriage was casually brought up by someone in the ofice, in her presence....so I thought for a second and said I'd get a pre-nup...and it evoc'd the exact rection I expected. She flipped out...
Why would it matter? First of all, I'm her boss, I never led her on or even acknowledged her actions that night. So my pre-nup in the future should have no effect on her right? Secondly...even say we were going to get married...a pre-nup should make no difference...seperating your savings in advance in case shit happens is just a smart move, not a lack of faith in the marriage.....like life insurance. You don't buy life insurance to die...you buy it because people die...you might too.
But pre-nups are always an issue? Why is that? I mean seriously, there is no logical reason a pre-nup would cause an issue.

Shouldn't matter.
I'm surprised no one has thought of this yet.
Joe Manginaire: Create fresh mangina newbies and see which guys fall for them. The first mangina powerleveled to 65 or 100Kpp wins. Brittney could host the show here on the vault
