Brains are some synthesizing freakin critters. There are lots of weird examples of crossed sensory input. If you are looking at a flame and I touch you with a piece of ice you'll think you are burned.
Multiple parallel processing allows a lot of plasticity. If you lose hearing...sight kicks in to assist. Of course if you get actually crossed input it is problematic...

The DA / BA / GA one is driving me insane. I know what I *should* be hearing while looking at it, but I can't make myself hear it while looking at it.
