Funny you mention that, I have an Avaya IP Office in our Chicago location. I generally have fewer issues with that then the Nortel's at our home office but...I do have a few questions on the Avaya if you know anything about the IP Office series.

I do know a decent amount about the IP Office series. Once upon a time I supported the product. Its been a few years, but depending on the question I should be able to answer it. If all else fails I still have some buddies up there I can ping the question off of, so shoot.

Well the first question would be is there a way to reset the admin password. We had a contractor put the unit in and since they have dried up and were out the admin password. Not sure what permission level I currently have, I can change just about everything but when I try to change the prefix from a 9 to an 8 so the redial function works on the phones its grayed out. I can however add and delete sets, change recordings and such.

2nd. How the hell do I make an 8bit recording that sounds decent played back threw a handset? I tried several different software packages but the noise cancel feature in all of them adds a constant hum. I want to record the greetings on the fly with a PC but as of yet can not get it to sound good in anything less then 16bit.

3rd. I have the Avaya connected to the Nortel, when I call the Avaya they can see our CPND information (Name and ext). When the Avaya calls us all we see is the ext number and not the name.

Yes, and I don't recall at all how to do it, so I'll have to check with my guys that work there still.

That part is a bit of a pain in the ass. There are some programs that they used to use when recording from a PC, but I believe a lot of times we would make the recording from a handset and then transfer the audiofile created from the handset to the proper prompt location.

Hmm. Could be a few things really. Could be line provisioning on one side or the other, or could be one of the two systems just being bitchy to the other. What type of trunk(s) to you have between the two systems?
