Fuck whoever came up with the "ribbon" menu system in the ass. Fuck them hard. Then fuck whoever decided to completely remove the menu system that everyone has been using for over a decade right in the ass with rusty sporks. Fuck them even harder.
I hate the ribbon system. It completely brings me completely to a halt when I was previously able to fly through keystrokes without even looking and get things done. Quickly. Efficiently. And is there the option of choosing the new ribbon system or the Office 2003 menu system? No sir there's not. Have a ribbon and a smile and shut the fuck up.
If you haven't, and most people likely have not, used Office 2007 much let me just say that while there are some nice improvements (Outlook contacts, calendar, increased # of available cells in Excel for example) - there are certainly more annoyances than improvements. I can't remember the last time I sat staring blankly at a computer screen wondering how to do something that used to be 4 quick keystrokes. Way to go Microsoft. Fuck you.

I've been using Office 2007 for awhile now and kind of like the new look to the menus. It does take time to get used to them and some of the simplest things become time consuming until you figure out where to find it with the new menu structure. I don't think it's bad but there is a learning curve that heavy users of Word and Excel are going to have to deal with...not something you really want to deal with when something important is needed quickly.
I spent time learning it creating non critical things like Fantasy Football spreadsheets!

I find myself looking some stuff in the ribbon every now and again but it's usually pretty easy to find what I'm looking for. Easier than it was to find that obscure function in 2003.
Overall, I think I'm saving time with the ribbon and what I wind up making looks better than it did before.

Have you guys noticed how crappy the redraw/scrolling is in Office 2007 apps as well? Couple examples..
In Excel I'll have some rows of data at the top with some charts down below on the same worksheet.. if I scroll down the page with the mouse scrolly thing, it 'corrupts' the view of the tables (usually cuts off the tops of them or makes them run together on the screen). Only if I page down and then back up to make it redraw the screen will the tables show up correctly again. It's like if you scroll down too quickly it won't redraw properly/fast enough.
In Word if you're in print preview mode and are page down/up'ing through the document, it redraws like crap. Not smooth in the slightest. Redraw should be immediate, as it was in O2k3 and before.
Hell, maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere that turns smoothER scrolling on in O2k7 apps..
PS: Oh, and the bullshit of data fitting into table cells in Word in draft mode but then wrapping in print preview/printed form is pissing me off too! It either fits or it doesn't. The margins don't change from one view to the next.

That's happened in every version of Word I've seen, just one of the reasons WordPerfect 5.1 was (hell, still is) a superior product that got killed off by bundling and feature creep.

When doing documents at work the actual formatting in Word is what takes the longest rather than the document content. Word has always been just generally sucky in my experience for anything but basic letters / documents.

I don't doubt your experience with this, but honestly in the years that I've being using Word/Excel to create reports I've never personally seen a discrepancy from draft mode to print preview mode other than graphics (and of course headers/footers). I guess I've spent so much time doing this that I don't generally find formatting to take much time or effort. Until beginning to use 2007 that is.
I will readily admit though, that I can/have come up with some damn sharp looking graphs in Excel 2007 that never would have been possible in previous versions. I'm still aggravated at how long it takes to get something done however.
