Is MS right in blocking out Malware and Security vendors....

...from the Vista kernel?
Symantec and McAfee's been raising a stink recently over the fact that MS implemented something called PatchGuard in the 64bit version of Vista that completely blocks off access to the Kernel to Malware and Security vendors alike(including Microsoft's own software).
Symantec and McAfee are arguing that PatchGuard is a good idea but that MS should be allowing exceptions for Security Vendors to do whatever they want instead of having to go through the documented API's and certification process.
There's a blog ranting from someone at MS on the subject and he has some unkind words(albeit true) about Symantec and McAfee and their smear campaign on PatchGuard.

Frankly, I think MS is in the right about this. They shouldn't expose the Kernel to everyone and met malware authors to anything they please. Anything that lessens the surface this considerably is a great thing.
