So all of you that are heading to Vegas in March - are you staying at the LV Hilton or staying elsewhere closer to the strip?

I was going to stay at Belagio but I heard that it's important to stay at the same hotel as FF for all the hijinks that ensue. Is that true? If it isn't, I may change my mind again.

I'm considering staying in a hotel other than the Hilton only because I could probably spend the same amount of cash for a nicer room at a nicer hotel. Not that you end up spending that much time in the room anyway, but the Hilton is like the dead far end of the strip, plus I plan on spending an entire week there.

Ceasars Palace is very nice and dead center of the strip. If I can talk Telo into going that would be my hotel of choice. Simply because its in the middle and not bad place to stay. Pink Flamingo isnt so bad either, although it doesnt show that from the outside.

My favorite Vegas Hotel is the New York, New York. Highly recommend a Jacuzzi suite.
Based on my one Fan Faire experience (which was a blast), I'd say for Vegas, stay in the Hilton if you're just there for the FF, and stay elsewhere if you're going to make a vacation of it. Taxi's are easy to get in Vegas.

This is where I have stayed the past few times I have gone to Vegas and I really like it there as well.
For FF I am planning on staying a few extra days so I am really just looking for a good deal either on the strip or I'll just stay at the LV Hilton. So if anyone finds any rippin' good deals, lemme know

From my personal experience, you're missing out on the whole point of Fan Faire if you stay in another hotel.
Besides, travelling is a pain in the butt between hotels.

Look at some of the older casino hotels. They show up as only 3 star hotels...but believe you me - They are all outstanding in their own right. The term "You Get what you pay for" does not always hold true in Vegas. The older hotels are just that, older, but still very nice rooms. I suggest somewhere like the Stratosphere if you want to be on the strip, and close to the LV Hilton. Even the Frontier works too.

Coolest thing in Vegas is the water show infront of the Belagio(sp?)
I won 6$ at the airport though

Stratosphere?? That's farther down the strip than the Hilton. I stayed at the Sahara last time (across the street from Stratosphere) and it was too far for my taste. I'll probably end up at the Hilton if it's not a bad price.

Well...the cheaper places are all far away from the "bulk" of the strip. The LV Hilton is at the NorthEast side of the strip. Strato and the Frontier, Sahara and such are all up at that end...
They are all just closer to the Hilton than say Belagio's and NY, NY and Bally's and stuff...you know, the bulk of the strip.

I booked at the hilton. I prefer to stay on the strip normally but with the FF and all I figured the Hilton wouldnt be so bad. Besides...it is $10 or less to get a cab to the heart of the strip from there. I am going out a day early just to give my liver a warm up day

The Sahara is more across the street to LV Hilton than the Stratosphere. Both Sahara and Hilton are located on Paradise road and not on the main strip like the Stratosphere (which is located south of the main strip.)
Sure, take into consideration room rate in booking a room, but take into consideration convenience as well. A lot of these hotels are pretty big.. and getting from your room, to the car to LVH might be a chore. Not to mention traffic. On Paradise Rd traffic isn't too bad depending on the time of day, but you won't be able to move much on Las Vegas Blvd (the strip) at night.. and with some of the way these people drive, you won't want to be driving.

I've stayed at quite a few hotels in Vegas, mostly on the strip, and Caesar's gives you the best bang for your buck. A bit pricey, but great rooms and great amenities. Perfect location if you plan to cruise the strip. And of course, you can treat your lady friend to a walk through the massive shopping complex (just don't let her anywhere near the Gucci/Armani area). Caesar's Palace also has a great casino, and perhaps the best sports book in town.

In my experiences, Stardust wasnt too bad for the price. Decent ammenities and choices of rooms for different prices.
